Objective: This study aimed to predict adolescents with untreated dental caries through a machine-learning approach using three different algorithms METHODS: Data came from an epidemiological survey in the five largest cities in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Data on sociodemographic characteristics, consumption of unhealthy foods and behaviours (use of dental floss and toothbrushing) were collected using Sisson's theoretical model, in 615 adolescents. For the machine learning, three different algorithms were used: (1) XGboost; (2) decision tree and (3) logistic regression. The epidemiological baseline was used to train and test predictions to detect individuals with untreated dental caries, through eight main predictor variables. Analyzes were performed using the R software (R Foundation for Statistical Computing, Vienna, Austria). The Ethics Committee approved the study..
Results: For the 615 adolescents, xgboost performed better with an area under the curve (AUC) of 84% versus 81% for the decision tree algorithm. The most important variables were the use of dental floss, unhealthy food consumption, self-declared race and exposure to fluoridated water.
Conclusions: Family health teams can improve the work process and use artificial intelligence mechanisms to predict adolescents with untreated dental caries, and, in this way, schedule dental appointments for the treatment of adolescents earlier.

Objective: This study aims to analyze the burden of untreated caries in deciduous and permanent teeth in China from 1990 to 2019 and projects its future trends through 2039.
Materials And Methods: Data on the burden of caries in primary and permanent teeth in China between 1990 and 2019 were extracted from the Global Burden of Disease 2019 study to assess the current burden of untreated caries. The average annual percentage change (AAPC) was estimated using a joinpoint regression model to evaluate temporal trends in the burden of untreated caries.

Objective: To evaluate whether pretreatment strategies targeting the extracellular matrix (ECM), such as DNase I and low-frequency ultrasound, enhance the efficacy of successive antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) against Candida albicans biofilms and to assess the effects on biofilm components.
Methods: Forty-eight-hour C. albicans (ATCC 90028) biofilms were treated under four conditions: (I) aPDT [Photodithazine (PDZ) (25 mg/L) for 20 min + Light-Emitting Diode (LED) (660 nm, 18 J/cm²)], (II) DNase+aPDT [5 min with 20 U/mL DNase I before aPDT], (III) sonication+aPDT [7 W, 170-190 J before aPDT], (IV) Dn+So+aPDT.

HIV-associated multicentric Castleman disease (HIV-MCD) is a rare, life-threatening lymphoproliferative disorder featuring systemic inflammation and marked lymphadenopathy. HIV-MCD is characterized by a human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8) infection, with an increasing incidence despite advances in antiretroviral therapy (ART). Although HHV-8 viremia is a recognized indicator of disease recurrence, the necessity of intervention for low-level viremia reactivation remains unclear.

Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) and papillary fibroelastoma (PFE) are distinct cardiovascular disorders that can rarely occur together. RHD is a chronic condition caused by untreated streptococcal infections, primarily affecting the mitral valve and resulting in severe valvular damage. On the other hand, PFE is a benign heart tumor, usually affecting the aortic valve, and is typically asymptomatic, often discovered incidentally through imaging.

The use of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in endodontic diagnostics and treatment is gaining importance due to its ability to provide three-dimensional imaging of tooth structures and their surroundings. CBCT allows a precise assessment of the anatomy of the endodontic space, which is crucial in planning and performing effective root canal treatment. Traditional two-dimensional imaging techniques often prove insufficient in diagnosing the complex morphology of dental canals, increasing the risk of leaving areas untreated and potential treatment failure.
