Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative condition characterized by the loss of midbrain dopaminergic neurons, leading to motor symptoms. While current treatments provide limited relief, they don't alter disease progression. Stem cell technology, involving patient-specific stem cell-derived neurons, offers a promising avenue for research and personalized regenerative therapies. This article reviews the potential of stem cell-based research in PD, summarizing ongoing efforts, their limitations, and introducing innovative research models. The integration of stem cell technology and advanced models promises to enhance our understanding and treatment strategies for PD.

Introduction: Ischemic heart disease (IHD) constitutes the most prevalent form of cardiac disease in the general population. Although current therapeutic interventions have significantly improved both quality of life and survival rates, no available treatment can reverse the loss of cardiomyocytes resulting from ischemic injury. Existing therapies are limited to attenuating myocardial damage, reducing its extent, and mitigating its clinical consequences.

Background: With the rise of regenerative medicine and geroscience, translational research has shifted focus from lifespan to healthspan-years lived in good health. Applied to aesthetic medicine, the authors introduce the concept of "skinspan," to both describe the period during which skin maintains a youthful, healthy appearance, and additionally to serve as a tool for the cosmetic consult.
Aims: The aim of this comprehensive review is to illuminate "skinspan" as a framework for guiding long-term skin health.

Diabetes mellitus is a common and serious metabolic disease globally, characterized by increased blood glucose levels. The major pathogenesis is the functional impairment of insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas and the lack of insulin secretion. Although both type 1 and type 2 diabetes develop through distinct pathological mechanisms, they lead to the destruction and/or dysfunction of beta cells, resulting in inadequate beta cell mass to maintain normal blood glucose levels.

Cystinosis is a autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disorder caused by mutations in the CTNS gene, which encodes cystinosin, a cystine transporter. The defective function of cystinosin leads to cystine accumulation in the lysosome, resulting in progressive multi-organ damage. Cystinosis manifests early in life, with nephropathic cystinosis typically presenting in infancy with renal Fanconi syndrome, leading to chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease if untreated.

Heart failure (HF) management is advancing in the field of cardiology, driven by the increasing availability of progressive medications. Emerging pharmacological therapies in heart failure management include SGLT-2 inhibitors, ARNI, Vericiguat, and Omecamtiv. Other novel therapies that are changing the scope of HF management include IV Iron therapy and new antifibrotic agents, such as pirfenidone and pamrevlumab.
