Article Abstract

We prepared a naturally occurring flavanoid namely quercetin from tea leaves and analyzed by Absorption, Emission, FT-IR, H, C nmr spectra and ESI-MS analysis. The inclusion behavior of quercetin in cyclodextrins like α-, β-, γ-, per-6-ABCD and mono-6-ABCD cavities were supported such as UV-vis., Emission, FT-IR and ICD spectra and energy minimization studies. From the absorption and emission results, the type of complexes formed were found to depend on stoichiometry of Host:Guest. FT-IR data of CD complexes of quercetin supported inclusion complex formation of the substrate with α-, β- and γ-CDs. The inclusion of host-guest complexation of quercetin with α-, β-, γ-CDs, per-6-ABCD and mono-6-ABCDs provides very valuable information about the CD:quercetin complexes, the study also shows that β-CD complexation improves water solubility, chemical stability and bioavailability of quercetin. Besides, phase solubility studies also supported the formation of 1:1 drug-CD soluble complexes. All these spectral results provide insight into the binding behavior of substrate into CD cavity in the order per-6-ABCD > Mono-6-ABCD > γ-CD > β-CD > α-CD. The proposed model also finds strong support from the fact with excess CD this exciton coupling disappears indicates the formation of only 1:1 complex.

Objectives: Early diagnosis and timely treatment of renal fibrosis can improve the prognosis of patients with nephropathy. We aim to investigate the utility of multi-parametric MRI for evaluating early renal fibrosis and therapeutic efficacy in a rat model.

Methods: Eighty-four male SD rats receiving tail vein injection of adriamycin doxorubicin (ADR) to establish renal fibrosis models were utilized.

Recent Monkeypox virus (MPXV) outbreaks in non-endemic regions have highlighted the need for genomic surveillance to support epidemiological investigations and monitor viral evolution. In this paper we present the results of genomic characterization and analyses of mechanisms of human adaptation, including APOBEC-style mutations, performed on 11 MPXV isolates, collected from May to September 2022, from Emilia-Romagna (Italy). Phylogenetic analysis confirmed all strains belonged to Clade IIb.

Alternative zinc binding peptides as potential tags for recombinant protein purification.

J Inorg Biochem

October 2025

Department of Chemistry, East Texas A&M University, 2600 S Neal Street, Commerce, TX 75428, USA. Electronic address:

Efficient binding of peptides and proteins to metal-chelating resins is a cornerstone of modern biochemical purification. This study evaluates a novel heptapeptide sequence, acetyl-Aa-Aa-Gly-Pro-Aa-His-Cys, where Aa = His or Asp, Aa = Cys or Asp and Aa = Tyr or Gly for its capacity to bind zinc-chelating resin consisting of divalent zinc chelated by iminodiacetate coupled to 6 % cross-linked agarose beads. Comparisons were made against the widely utilized 7 × His tag using an internal standard method with ion mobility - mass spectrometry analyses and ultra-violet absorption analyses, which quantified the binding efficiency and selectivity of these peptides under pH 8 conditions and the elution from the zinc resin using pH 3.

Study on dissociated states of twenty proteinogenic amino acids and their interactions with LAT1 by HPCE-IICRD.

J Chromatogr A

August 2025

Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Peking University, Beijing 100191, PR China. Electronic address:

High performance capillary electrophoresis (HPCE) has been widely applied in the analysis of amino acids (AAs), but no studies on the HPCE analysis of dissociated states of AAs have been reported. Here, twenty proteingenic AAs were analyzed by the newly-developed universal interface-induced current detector (IICRD). Two or three current signal peaks were observed in current electrophoretograms (CR-EGs), while only one peak with low sensitivity can be obtained by DAD.

Lignocellulosic biomass (LCB), such as wheat straw, bagasse, or wood, is a cost-effective, sustainable carbon source but remains challenging to utilize due to the recalcitrance of lignin, which hinders efficient carbohydrate hydrolysis. Effective LCB degradation demands a wide range of enzymes, and commercial enzyme cocktails often require physical or chemical pretreatments. A fully enzymatic degradation could drastically improve the efficiency of these processes.
