Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy has the potential to be used for bacterial typing and outbreak characterization. We evaluated FTIR for the characterization of an outbreak caused by Elizabethkingia miricola. During the 2020-2021 period, 26 isolates (23 clinical and 3 environmental) were collected and analyzed by FTIR (IR Biotyper) and core-genome MLST (cgMLST), in addition to antimicrobial susceptibility testing. FTIR spectroscopy and cgMLST showed that 22 of the isolates were related to the outbreak, including the environmental samples, with only one discordance between both methods. Then, FTIR is useful for E. miricola typing and can be easily implemented in the laboratory.

Confronting the dual challenges of carbon neutrality and sustainable energy, photocatalytic CO reduction requires precise control over product selectivity. This study demonstrates that surface hydroxyl (-OH) density serves as a molecular switch for reaction pathways in graphene oxide/cobalt tetraphenylporphyrin (GO/CoTPP) hybrids. By tuning the reduction degree of GO supports via gradient hydrazine hydrate treatment (0-85%), we constructed catalysts with controlled -OH concentrations.

The iron nickel magnesium tetra-oxide (FeNiMgO) nanocomposites (NCs) first reported in this article were synthesized using the sol-gel method. For investigation using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), the presence of a cubic structure is confirmed. In Raman spectroscopy, the vibrational modes are investigated.

Background: Diniconazole (DCZ) is a poorly water-soluble triazole fungicide. However, the water solubility of DCZ can be significantly enhanced by inclusion complexation with cyclodextrins. In order to improve the properties and bioavailability of pesticide fungicides DCZ, a new system of nanofibers was prepared by electrospinning and cyclodextrin encapsulation.

The interactions between ethylcellulose (EC) and waxes in multicomponent oleogel systems are underexplored. This study investigated the structural, functional, and physiochemical properties of rice bran oil (RBO) oleogels structured with various ratios of EC and a binary wax blend (9:1 beeswax (BW): carnauba wax (CRW)), varied in 0.5 % w/w increments at a constant total gelator concentration of 4 % w/w.

This study employed high-pressure microfluidization (HPM) to facilitate the Maillard reaction between quinoa protein (QP) and dextran (DX), systematically examining the effects of various pressures on the conjugate's physicochemical properties. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed the formation of QP-DX conjugates, characterized by a new peak at 1149 cm (covalent CN bond). Secondary and tertiary structure analyses revealed that HPM-assisted Maillard reaction partially unfolded QP molecules, enhancing conformational flexibility and interfacial properties.
