By training nurses and midwives on the basics of obstetric ultrasound, high-risk pregnancies in remote Nepalese villages can be identified and triaged. American radiology residents traveling to Nepal can improve their real-time, hands-on ultrasound scanning skills while learning the intricacies of practicing medicine in a low- and middle-income country. Global outreach work is increasing in popularity among US radiologists, emphasizing the importance of training radiology residents in point-of-care ultrasound.

Sonographic examination of major vessels can be a valuable bedside tool for perioperative hemodynamic assessment. In the present review, we present the anatomic and physiological aspects of internal jugular vein ultrasonography, its utility in assessing central venous pressure, intravascular volume status, fluid responsiveness, and its predictive value regarding post-spinal anesthesia hypotension. The existing literature is primarily comprised of small, observational studies with great heterogeneity in their methodology and shortcomings in data development and analysis, rendering the generalization of their results difficult to interpret for daily clinical practice.

Background: Thoracic point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is an improved modality for detecting pneumothorax (PTX) with high accuracy compared with supine chest x-ray (CXR) study. However, recent research has questioned the sensitivity of POCUS for diagnosis of PTX in trauma patients.
Objective: The authors determined the accuracy of emergency physician (EP) POCUS in identifying clinically significant PTX in high-severity trauma patients based on the red criteria of the 2021 National Expert Panel on Field Triage.

Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is frequently underdiagnosed due to limitations of transthoracic echocardiography, particularly when tricuspid regurgitant velocity (TRV) is unmeasurable. CorVista PH (point-of-care test for pulmonary hypertension [POC-PH]) is a novel, Food and Drug Administration-cleared point-of-care diagnostic with 82% sensitivity and 92% specificity for identifying mean pulmonary artery pressure elevation.
Summary: We present a patient who underwent multiple transthoracic echocardiograms negative for PH.
