Article Abstract

A Gram-positive, acid-fast, aerobic, rapidly growing and non-motile strain was isolated from lead-zinc mine tailing sampled in Lanping, Yunnan province, Southwest China. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that the most closely related species of strain KC 300 was CGMCC 4.5724 (98.47 %). Additionally, phylogenomic and specific conserved signature indel analysis revealed that strain KC 300 should be a member of genus , and CECT 8779 and DSM 104744 should also members of genus . The genome size of strain KC 300 was 6.2 Mb with an DNA G+C content of 69.2 mol%. Chemotaxonomic characteristics of strain KC 300 were also consistent with the genus . The average nucleotide identity, digital DNA-DNA hybridization and average amino acid identity values, as well as phenotypic, physiological and biochemical characteristics, support that strain KC 300 represents a new species within the genus , for which the name sp. nov. is proposed, with the type strain KC 300 (=CGMCC 1.19494=JCM 35915). In addition, we reclassified and as comb. nov. and comb. nov., respectively.

Regional changes in shear modulus of the biceps femoris long head following load application to the biceps femoris short head.

J Biomech

Department of Physical Therapy, School of Health Sciences, Sapporo Medical University, Sapporo, Japan; Graduate School of Health Sciences, Sapporo Medical University, Sapporo, Japan. Electronic address:

Understanding the mechanical behavior of the biceps femoris long head (BFlh) may be insightful due to its high susceptibility to strain injuries, particularly during high-speed running in sports, such as soccer and track and field. While prior research has focused on intrinsic muscle properties, emerging evidence suggests that the biceps femoris short head (BFsh) may influence BFlh tension. Thus, we examined the effects of BFsh load application on the tensile strength and regional shear modulus of the BFlh.

The ferret model is widely used to study influenza A viruses (IAVs) isolated from multiple avian and mammalian species, as IAVs typically replicate in the respiratory tract of ferrets without the need for prior host adaptation. During standard IAV risk assessments, tissues are routinely collected from ferrets at a fixed time point post-inoculation to assess the capacity for systemic spread. Here, we describe a data set of virus titers in tissues collected from both respiratory tract and extrapulmonary sites 3 days post-inoculation from over 300 ferrets inoculated with more than 100 unique IAVs (inclusive of H1, H2, H3, H5, H7, and H9 IAV subtypes, both mammalian and zoonotic origin).

Strain-induced instabilities of graphene under biaxial stress.

J Chem Phys

September 2025

Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM), Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), Campus de Cantoblanco, 28049 Madrid, Spain.

The mechanical properties of graphene are investigated using classical molecular dynamics simulations as a function of temperature T and external stress τ. The elastic response is characterized by calculating elastic constants via three complementary methods: (i) numerical derivatives of stress-strain curves, (ii) analysis of cell fluctuation correlations, and (iii) phonon dispersion analysis. Simulations were performed with two interatomic models: an empirical potential and a tight-binding electronic Hamiltonian.

Unlabelled: Methicillin-resistant (MRSA) is a leading cause of endovascular infections, where interactions with endothelial cells play a critical role in pathogenesis. Gp05, a prophage-encoded protein, has previously been implicated in promoting antibiotic persistence by modulating MRSA cellular physiology and evading neutrophil-mediated killing. In this study, we investigated the role of Gp05 in MRSA-endothelial cell interactions, focusing on its impact on bacterial adhesion, invasion, cytotoxicity, and the host inflammatory response.

Self-Medicating Molten-Salt Synthesis of Bulk-Stabilized High-Energy Cathodes for Li-Ion Batteries.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

Department of Chemical Engineering, Shanghai Electrochemical Energy Devices Research Center, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, 200240, China.

High-energy lithium-ion batteries necessitate stable Ni-rich layered cathodes, yet critical challenges such as lattice distortion and surface structure collapse remain unresolved. While conventional high-valence doping greatly alleviates surface degradations, it is ineffective in stabilizing bulk lattice due to dopant segregation. Here, we propose a slightly Li-rich (SLR) lattice design by partially substituting transition-metal (TM) ions with Li ions in TM layers, reducing electrostatic repulsion against high-valence dopants.
