Article Abstract

Rationale: Brunner gland adenoma (BGA) is a rare benign duodenal tumor that is an adenomatoid lesion in nature rather than an actual tumor. Patients with different adenoma sizes have various clinical manifestations with nonspecific clinical symptoms. Here, We report a case of BGA with black stool and anemia as the primary manifestations.

Patient Concerns: A young female patient was admitted to the hospital because of black stool and anemia. Endoscopic surgery was performed to a definitive diagnosis, and endoscopic tumor-like lesions were resected.

Diagnosis: The patient was diagnosed with duodenal Brunner adenoma and received related treatment.

Outcomes: After treatment, the patient symptoms improved, and he was discharged.

Lessons: Brunner adenoma of the duodenum is a rare benign duodenum tumor. This report paper describes a case of BGA with black stool and anemia as the primary manifestations, followed by endoscopic resection and treatment. The literature on Brunner adenoma of the duodenum has been analyzed and discussed. Clinicians should pay attention to differentiating the disease based on atypical symptoms.

The pituitary gland is a main component of the endocrine system and a master controller of hormone production and secretion. Unlike neoplastic formation in other organs, Pituitary Neuroendocrine Tumors (PitNETs) are frequent in the population (16%) and, for unknown reasons, almost never metastatic. So far, few genes have been identified as drivers for PitNETs, such as GNAS in somatotroph tumors and USP8 in corticotroph tumors.

Introduction: and research question: Prognostic factors to predict the behavior of pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNET) are scarce. PD-L1 expression was associated with prognosis in other neuroendocrine neoplasms and we analyzed PD-L1 expression in PitNET, according to the 2022 WHO classification.

Material And Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed.

Background: Pyloric gland adenoma (PGA) is a distinct subtype of duodenal adenoma. PGA has been increasingly recognized as a histologically and molecularly distinct entity; however, its endoscopic features have not been precisely described. This study aims to investigate the endoscopic characteristics of duodenal PGA, including the association of their putative precursors, Brunner's gland hyperplasia (BGH), and gastric epithelial heterotopia/metaplasia (GEM/H).

Article Synopsis
  • The small intestine and ampulla can develop various benign tumors and tumor-like diseases that may resemble cancer, highlighting the need for pathologists to have a comprehensive understanding of these conditions.
  • Key examples of these benign issues include Brunner gland lesions, different types of polyps, and various mesenchymal proliferations like inflammatory fibroid polyps and leiomyomas.
  • The review aims to clarify the histopathological features of these benign conditions to aid pathologists in making accurate diagnoses and differentiating them from malignant tumors.
