Repair of rotator cuff injuries using transosseous tunnels. Introduction to the technique, devices and other relevant points.

Acta Ortop Mex

September 2025

Instituto Nacional de Rehabilitación «Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra». Ciudad de México. México.

Rotator cuff injuries are common and procedures of repair have evolved from open techniques to minimally invasive and arthroscopic ones. Despite these advances, the biomechanics, biology, and value of transosseous repairs remain superior, leading to the development of innovative devices that enable the utilization of this technique without the use of anchors, improving both the efficiency and safety of the procedure. This article reviews the latest advances in transosseous rotator cuff repair, highlighting its biomechanical advantages, as well as the factors that enhance recovery and offer more consistent long-term outcomes.

Background: Policymakers face challenges in developing pricing policies for potentially innovative healthcare technologies (pIHTs) that balance limited budgets, access, and incentives for innovation. This study aimed to map existing evidence and identify knowledge gaps regarding price determinants and pricing policies for pIHTs and their effect on access and sustainability.

Methods: We conducted a scoping Review of scientific and grey literature in English published between 2014 and September 2023 with pre-specified inclusion and exclusion criteria to identify stakeholder-informed price determinants, pricing policies applied by European Economic Area (EEA) or Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) member states, and their access-related impacts.

Adaptive management has long been advocated as a framework of choice for addressing the complexities and uncertainties of natural resource management. Despite its theoretical appeal, successful implementation remains elusive, with many documented barriers and limited operational examples. This paper examines Strategic Adaptive Management (SAM), a long-running adaptive management program originating from the Kruger National Park in South Africa.

Purpose: As the healthcare model in the United States transitions to encompass value-based care, it is increasingly important to capture pharmacist impact on medication-related patient outcomes to justify clinical pharmacists' presence within interdisciplinary teams. Therefore, the aims of this project were (1) to apply a previously developed standardized process for identifying and prioritizing outcome measures related to acute care pharmacy practice and (2) to identify pharmacist activities and interventions associated with select outcome measures.

Methods: Pharmacists, physicians, and advanced practice providers completed a 3-round survey.
