Article Abstract

We did not identify any vacuole-related differences in circulating immature myeloid cells between VEXAS patients and UBA1-WT 'VEXAS-like' patients. The similar vacuolization of circulating immature myeloid cells between VEXAS and UBA1-WT patients is explained by the main bloodstream passage of late precursors, in which the vacuolization is already similar in bone marrow in both cases.

Atherosclerosis is the most important etiology of acute myocardial infarction, which is considered an inflammatory disease with specific cellular and molecular responses. Recent research has linked hematological variables as biomarkers of the severity of coronary artery disease. Studies suggest that nucleated red blood cells (NRBCs), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and mean platelet volume (MPV) may serve as components of a laboratory model or hematological scoring system for in-hospital surveillance.

Immature Surfactant Protein Type-B Associates With Graft Patency in Patients Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting.

JACC Adv

September 2025

Unit of Functional Proteomics, Metabolomics and Network Analysis, Centro Cardiologico Monzino IRCCS, Milano, Italy.

Background: Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery is performed in patients with complex multivessel coronary artery disease, but long-term graft occlusion remains a major limitation. The immature surfactant protein type-B (proSP-B) has emerged as a predictor of adverse cardiovascular outcomes.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between preoperative plasma proSP-B and graft occlusion 18 months post-CABG.

Mast cell leukemia (MCL) is an exceedingly rare and aggressive variant of systemic mastocytosis (SM). MCL is classified as primary, occurring without prior mast cell (MC) disorders or secondary, from a pre-existing SM, and acute aggressive form with C-findings that indicate organ damage or chronic indolent form without organ damage. Of the cases, 60-65% are aleukemic with < 10% circulating MCs in the peripheral blood, and the rest of the cases are leukemic with > 10% MCs.

Background: Chikungunya fever (CHIK) caused by the mosquito-borne chikungunya virus (CHIKV) and transmitted by mosquitoes, remains a public health burden throughout the tropics. During the CHIK outbreak in southeastern Senegal in August 2023, an entomologic investigation was conducted to identify the vector(s) and characterize the virus strains.

Methods: Adult mosquitoes were collected indoors and outdoors from houses of confirmed CHIK cases and their immediate neighborhoods using Prokopack aspirators and double-net traps and all water containers were inspected for aquatic stages.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the prevalence of dengue virus (DENV) infection in Aedes aegypti mosquitoes and evaluate associated ecological and environmental factors in three inland districts (Bahi, Kyela, Ngorongoro) with distinct agro-ecological characteristics and no prior dengue outbreak reports.

Methods: A cross-sectional entomological study was conducted during the wet (April-June 2022) and dry (October-November 2022) seasons. Adult mosquitoes were collected indoors and outdoors using battery-powered aspirators, and immature stages were sampled from natural and artificial water containers.
