Article Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare computer-aided analysis and different methods of manual measurements in the evaluation of carpal alignment. The radioscaphoid, radiolunate, radiocapitate and radiometacarpal angles were measured on cone-beam computed tomography (CT) scans of 30 healthy wrists by automated software (Disior Ltd.) and by hand surgeons using lateral radiographs reconstructed from the CT data. Hand surgeons were either given ( = 6) or not given ( = 7) prior instructions on how to perform the measurements. Inter- and intra-observer reliability of manual measurements ranged from good to excellent (intra-class correlation coefficients [ICC] 0.77-0.99), being highest in specialists with standardized methods and in reconstructed radiographs with bone overlap digitally removed. Computer-aided software provided excellent intra-observer reliability (ICC 0.94-1.00) consistently and values that were highly comparable (mean difference range 1°-7°) with the manual measurements made in optimal settings. Computer-aided software provides an accurate and repeatable method to measure carpal alignment in CT scans, minimizing observational errors.

In the United States, the use of Food & Drug Administration (FDA)-licensed, approved, or cleared tests is required for infectious disease screening and determining the eligibility of deceased donors for all Human Cells, Tissues, and Cellular and Tissue-Based Products (HCT/Ps). With the discontinuation of two manual enzyme-linked immunoassay (EIA) tests, automated Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immunoassay (CMIA) technology was introduced as the primary alternative. This study compares serologic reactivity rates between manual EIA and automated CMIA methods.

Unlabelled: Automated analysis of optical coherence tomography (OCT) biomarkers improves the prediction of results of loading anti-VEGF therapy of vascular pigment epithelial detachment (PED) associated with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD).

Objective: This study evaluated the effectiveness of OCT biomarker analysis algorithm in predicting the anatomical outcomes of loading anti-VEGF therapy for vascular PED in nAMD.

Material And Methods: OCT scans performed prior to loading anti-VEGF therapy were analyzed using the algorithm in 69 treatment-naïve nAMD patients (70 eyes) with vascular PED exceeding 200 µm in height.

Minimizing repetitive strain (RS) is a key recommendation from clinical practice guidelines for preservation of upper limb. Propulsion force, which is required to overcome wheel rolling resistance (RR), is a major source of RS. A drum-based RR test method has been developed but has not been directly validated against propulsion forces.

To assess retinal layer thickness and volume by optical coherence tomography (OCT) in patients with prior traumatic brain injury (TBI). Adults (≥18 years) with prior TBI were prospectively recruited. 512 × 128-mm macular cube scans were obtained using Zeiss Cirrus HD-5000 OCT.

Aim: This study aimed to statistically evaluate and compare the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of manual versus artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted digital cephalometric tracing using Steiner's and Down's analyses in orthodontic diagnostics.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective study was conducted using 20 lateral cephalograms obtained using the NewTom GiANO HR cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) system (Quantitative Radiology, Verona, Italy). Manual tracings were performed on acetate sheets, while digital analysis employed the AudaxCeph® software (Audax d.
