Purpose: To evaluate visual outcomes after bacterial keratitis (BK) and identify predictive factors for poor prognosis at a tertiary referral center in Southern California.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional retrospective review of patients' medical records with culture-positive BK at University of California Los Angeles from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2019. Main outcome measure was change in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) at 12 weeks posttreatment.

Background And Aims: While perceived stress and coping strategies have been established as significant determinants of quality of life (QoL) in patients with solid malignancies, their impact on hematological malignancy population have not been fully elucidated. This study aimed to examine how perceived stress and medical coping strategies interact with sociodemographic factors to influence QoL in patients with hematologic malignancies.
Methods: The study, involving 185 hematologic cancer patients in China, was conducted between August 2024 and December 2024.

Background: Postoperative swelling is a common complication after total knee arthroplasty (TKA), associated with pain, limited mobility, and delayed recovery. This study aimed to systematically review the literature on interventions that reduce postoperative swelling, categorized into preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.
Methods: A Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses-compliant search of PubMed, Medline, Embase, and Cochrane databases was performed for clinical studies evaluating interventions to reduce swelling after primary TKA.

As noise is one of the most significant stress factors in the teaching profession, its impact in real classroom situations was investigated in Study 1. Noise levels ( = 56) were measured, and teachers were surveyed afterward. In Study 2, assumed correlations between school-specific noise sources, noise perception and strain were quantified in a sample of 820 teachers via online survey.

In resource-limited settings in Africa, which harbour the greatest burden of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) globally, poor care outcomes are driven in part, by a lack of trained healthcare providers (HCP) and an absence of context-specific treatment guidelines appropriate to the level of healthcare facility. The study aimed to evaluate the impact of a structured training program on HCP's knowledge of SCD in Ghana. This was prospective cross-sectional study involving HCPs from 46 health facilities from 4 out of 16 regions in Ghana.
