The authors report a singular case of post-operative exogenous fungal endophthalmitis caused by a non-pathogenic fungal agent: . A 75-year-old Caucasian woman with post-penetrating keratoplasty fungal endophthalmitis due to a nonpathogenic resistant to the current azoles anti-fungal agents, was treated with subtotal vitrectomy, intravitreal injection, and systemic voriconazole therapy. Complete resolution of the endophthalmitis occurred after two subsequent intravitreal injections and a 2-month-long systemic delivery of voriconazole. The quick identification of the fungal agent allowed immediate and targeted therapy. In the article, the safety and efficacy of both systemic and intravitreal voriconazole treatments are discussed.

Purpose: To identify novel risk factors associated with the presence of fungal ocular lesions in patients with fungemia and to evaluate the validity and efficacy of routine screening.
Study Design: Retrospective study METHODS: The medical records of 198 patients diagnosed with fungemia by blood culture at 3 medical centers in Japan between March 2017 and April 2022 were analyzed. Ocular lesions were categorized as possible, probable, or proven, according to previously established definitions.

Purpureocillium lilacinum is an opportunistic pathogenic fungus associated with endophthalmitis and keratitis. Previously, we isolated the strain P. lilacinum IFM 63780, notable for its high resistance to polyhexamethylene biguanide hydrochloride (PHMB), a common disinfectant and antiseptic used in dermatology and ophthalmology.

Background: Pyogenic liver abscesses are a fatal condition often seen in emergency departments. The major clinical presentations include weakness, anorexia, fever, chills, ventosity and abdominal pain. They occur in immunocompromised individuals who suffer from diabetes mellitus, malignant tumors, hepatocirrhosis, kidney failure, and solid organ transplantation, or those with long-term administration of glucocorticoids.

Introduction: Fungal endophthalmitis (FE) is a rare but serious intraocular inflammatory disorder, resulting from an infection of the vitreous cavity from either endogenous or exogenous components that ultimately results in blindness. This current research study aims to elucidate the histological effects of the intravitreal injection of the maximum safe dosage of voriconazole and micafungin on the retina and investigate potential histological alterations after the double and combined administration of voriconazole and micafungin.
Methodology: Nine New Zealand Albino Rabbits were randomly assigned into three groups (V2, M2, and VM), and in each, voriconazole, micafungin, and a combination of the two medications were administered respectively.

Aim: Investigate and characterise acute post-cataract fungal endophthalmitis pooled from the Endophthalmitis Management Study occurring within 6 weeks of primary surgery.
Methods: The fungal infection was confirmed through conventional and molecular microbiology work-ups and antifungal susceptibility testing. Clinical examination included measurement of distant vision and intraocular pressure, anterior segment photo documentation and inflammation score (IS) measurement.
