The sub-Saharan African region bears the highest burden of rotavirus-associated morbidity and mortality, with substantial genetic diversity observed in circulating strains despite vaccine introduction. The G8 genotype, originally predominant in bovine strains, has increasingly become prevalent in humans, suggesting a possible interface of animal-to-human transmission and highlighting its role in African strain diversity. In this study, we performed whole genome sequencing and evolutionary analysis of 21 archival G8P[4] strains collected through gastroenteritis surveillance in South Africa between 2009 and 2021 from children under five years of age.

Objective: To convene a global consensus on () screening and eradication strategies for gastric cancer prevention, identify key knowledge gaps and outline future research directions.
Methods: 32 experts from 12 countries developed and refined consensus statements on management, using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) framework to assess evidence and the Delphi method to achieve ≥80% agreement.
Results: Consensus was achieved on 28 statements.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are ubiquitously secreted nanoparticles that modulate the activities of recipient cells either through the transfer of bioactive cargo or by surface receptor-mediated signalling. EVs derived from dendritic cells are increasingly recognised as promising platforms for therapeutic cancer vaccines, owing to their immunostimulatory cargo, their capacity to transfer preformed peptide-major histocompatibility complexes to antigen-presenting cells, and their ability, in some cases, to directly activate cognate T cells. Despite encouraging preclinical results, EV-based cancer vaccines have demonstrated limited clinical efficacy, constrained by suboptimal immunogenicity, poor lymphoid targeting, and suppression within the tumour microenvironment.

The introduction of MenAfriVac has significantly reduced group A meningococcal meningitis in the African meningitis belt, but epidemics caused by other groups such as C, W, Y and X (MenCWYX) remain a threat. To address this, a new multivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MMCV) has been developed and pre-qualified by WHO. This study extends a previously established transmission dynamic model for MenA to include MenCWYX, enabling evaluation of the potential impact of MMCVs under various vaccination strategies.
