Background: Understanding age-associated differences in acute and memory adaptive immunity to SARS-CoV-2 and how this contributes to more favorable outcomes in children is critically important.

Methods: We evaluated SARS-CoV-2-specific T cell, B cell, and antibody responses in 329 peripheral blood samples collected from non-hospitalized children, adolescents, and adults at three timepoints, including acute and memory timepoints.

Results: Most children produced robust CD4+ T cell responses during infection and developed memory CD4+ T cells; however, young children <4 years old often had undetectable CD4+ T cell responses compared to older children and adults.

Background: Understanding the symptom burden experienced by patients with cancer can enable appropriate supportive care. Our aim was to describe patient-reported outcomes (PROs) for patients with metastatic NSCLC initiating first-line (1L) systemic therapy under usual care at a large academic center.

Methods: Patients eligible for this prospective observational study were ≥ 18 years old when initiating 1L systemic therapy for stage IV NSCLC from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2020.

Introduction: Close symptom monitoring can benefit patients with metastatic nonsmall cell lung cancer (mNSCLC) receiving first-line therapy. Remote patient monitoring technologies, like the artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled Kaiku Health platform that allows oncology patients to report their health status in real-time to healthcare providers, may enhance patients' treatment experience.

Methodology: The lung artificial intelligence-enabled digital solution pilot study ("Lung AID") assessed the feasibility of future studies on Kaiku Health in patients with mNSCLC receiving first-line pembrolizumab in Germany.

Arthropod-borne pathogens cause serious human infections, yet they only cause limited disease in rodent reservoirs. Wild type mice resist infection by tick-borne which causes spotted fever in humans, and it remains unclear why humans are vulnerable. Here, we report that whereas mouse type I interferon (IFN-I) or interferon-γ (IFN-γ) dramatically restrict in macrophages, human interferons do not.

Host glutathione is required for Rickettsia parkeri cell division and intracellular survival.

Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, School of Medicine, University of California, Irvine, Irvine, CA, 92617, USA.

Intracellular bacteria rely on eukaryotic metabolites for their fitness and pathogenesis. Yet, the mechanisms of how host metabolites promote bacterial physiology and immune evasion are often unclear. Here, we employed obligate cytosolic Rickettsia parkeri, which parasitizes over fifty host metabolites, to investigate bacterial utilization of host glutathione (GSH).
