Article Abstract

, a Gram-negative bacteria observed in some popular beverages, is considered safe and has been studied for its potential therapeutic benefits. In this study, we explored its effects on the inflammatory process, tissue integrity, differential gene expression, and microbiota composition in an experimental dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis model in mice. As a result, alleviated the symptoms caused by DSS administration, as indicated by reduced weight loss, disease activity index, a significant reduction in the colon weight/length ratio, and histopathological improvement. Also, could restore the mucosal barrier as well as increase the expression of and genes. An analysis of 16S rRNA sequences showed that alters gut microbiota, increasing abundance and decreasing . Furthermore, seems to be involved in potentiating a regulatory phenotype by inducing immunomodulatory genes like , , , and and reducing the relative mRNA expression of proinflammatory cytokines , , and . Our data suggest that could alleviate disease progression and be considered a possible probiotic adjuvant for pathologies of the bowel.

Dysregulated transcription factors critically link chronic inflammation to oncogenesis in colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC), but their mechanistic roles remain incompletely understood. By integrating microarray and transcriptome sequencing data from ulcerative colitis (UC), colitis-associated cancer (CAC), and colorectal cancer (CRC) patients, we identify C/EBPβ as a key transcriptional regulator whose elevated expression inversely correlates with survival. In azoxymethane (AOM)/dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced CAC models, intestinal epithelial C/EBPβ is upregulated during tumor progression, which is correlated with exacerbated tumor burden and neutrophil infiltration.

Response surface methodology was used to determine the optimized UA-TPP-DES conditions as follows: a 1: 2 M ratio of lauric acid to terpineol, 30 min of ultrasonication at 60 °C with 100 W power, 20 % moisture content, 20 % w/w (NH)SO concentration, and a 2: 1 top-to-bottom phase volume ratio.
