Article Abstract

The roles of Mn ions in the MnCO compound, leading to the formation of an Mn-Yb dimer and affecting the gain coefficient for the I → I transition of Er ions and near-infrared (NIR) emission bandwidth flatness of Er/Tm/Yb co-doped in SiO-ZnO-BaO (SZB) barium zinc silicate glasses, were investigated in this work. The composition of all elements from the original raw materials that exist in the host glasses was determined using energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Under the excitation of a 980 nm laser diode (LD), the NIR emission of Er/Tm/Yb-co-doped SZB glasses produced a bandwidth of about 430 nm covering the O, E, and C bands. The effects of Mn ions and the Mn-Yb dimer on the gain coefficient for the I → I transition of Er ions and bandwidth flatness of NIR emission of Er/Tm-co-doped and Er/Tm/Yb-co-doped SZB glasses were also assigned. The optimal molar concentration of Mn ions was determined such that the NIR bandwidth flatness of Er/Tm/Yb-co-doped SZB glasses was the flattest. In addition, the role of Mn ions in reducing the gain coefficient for the I → I transition of Er ions was also calculated and discussed.

Optimizing calf feeding strategies is critical for improving performance, health, and weaning transitions of preweaning animals. Despite the updated National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM, 2021) , decision support tools integrating these equations for simulating optimized calf feeding strategies remain limited. To address this gap, we developed and tested the CalfSim, a free, user-friendly decision support tool designed to simulate and optimize feeding plans for dairy calves.

Soybean meal (SBM) contains many bioactive compounds, such as isoflavones, which possess anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties that may provide nutritional intervention to pigs infected with porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSv). The disease results in abortions, stillborn piglets, and overall impairs reproductive success in sows. Today, there are no data available on feeding SBM to sows infected with PRRSv to mitigate the negative impacts of PRRSv on sow and litter performance.

This study introduces the HydroTherm-Flow Smart Window (HTF Window), the first groundbreaking integration of thermochromic windows and Fe-Cr redox flow batteries (Fe-Cr RFBs), achieving dual functionalities of dynamic solar modulation-via dual-band (visible + near-infrared, NIR) modulation-and high-efficiency energy storage in a single component. Leveraging tunable hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) hydrogels, it enables ultrafast optical switching and autonomous nighttime opacity, overcoming the slow response and privacy limitations of conventional thermochromic systems. By repurposing the window as a compact electrolyte reservoir, it reduces the RFB spatial footprint while enhancing ionic conductivity by 30% via hydrogel "ion highways," achieving 77% energy efficiency with a 40% reduction in the solar heat gain coefficient.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of Ga-PSMA-11 PET/MRI in prostate cancer (PC) with biochemical recurrence (BCR) after radical prostatectomy (RP). It was also aimed to develop a nomogram to predict PET/MRI positivity.

Methods: The data of 140 PC patients who underwent Ga-PSMA-11 PET/MRI for BCR after RP were retrospectively analyzed.
