We reveal the generation of a broadband (> 1.9 THz) bi-photon quantum frequency comb (QFC) in a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) Fabry-Pérot micro-cavity and the control of its spectral correlation properties. Correlated photon pairs are generated through three spontaneous four-wave mixing (SFWM) processes by using a co-polarized bi-chromatic coherent input with power P and P on adjacent resonances of the nonlinear cavity. Adjusting the spectral power ratio r = P/(P + P) allows control over the influence of each process leading to an enhancement of the overall photon pair generation rate (PGR) μ(r) by a maximal factor of μ(r = 0.5)/μ(r = 0) ≈ 1.5, compared to the overall PGR provided by a single-pump configuration with the same power budget. We demonstrate that the efficiency a of the non-degenerate excitation SFWM process (NDP) doubles the efficiency a ≈ a of the degenerate excitation SFWM processes (DP), showing a good agreement with the provided model.

Impaired muscle regrowth in aging is underpinned by reduced pro-inflammatory macrophage function and subsequently impaired muscle cellular remodeling. Macrophage phenotype is metabolically controlled through TCA intermediate accumulation and activation of HIF1A. We hypothesized that transient hypoxia following disuse in old mice would enhance macrophage metabolic inflammatory function thereby improving muscle cellular remodeling and recovery.

Non-invasive glucose monitoring using Raman spectroscopy with 830 nm excitation presents a promising alternative to traditional fingerstick methods for diabetes management research. An integrated in vivo Raman system enables transcutaneous glucose detection and has demonstrated robust performance in oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTT), validating its reliability. Inter-subject correlation between spectral features and glucose concentration was addressed by the intensity of the fingerprint peak (I), peak intensity ratio (I/I), and the spectral area ratio (S/S), whose correlation coefficient (R) was 0.

Introduction: Although Coeliac disease (CD) current and only treatment is a life-long strict gluten free diet (GFD), some patients suffer from persistent duodenal lesions despite years into the diet. Hence, we aimed to study the effect that the GFD elicits on the mucosal immune infiltrate from these patients.
Method: To that end, duodenal biopsies were collected from non-coeliac controls and CD patients, both at diagnosis and after at least one year into the GFD.

The analytical comparability of biologic products and their biosimilars, including higher-order structure (HOS) assessment, ensures product quality and is required for regulatory approval. In this study, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was used to evaluate the HOS of Humira (adalimumab) and its biosimilars under normal and photo-stressed conditions. Under normal conditions, 1D and 2D NMR spectra showed strong structural similarity among all products.

Chili peppers have been under the spotlight of bioactivity research as they feature a diverse and rich phytochemical profile with multiple health promoting effects. These beneficial properties are related to the chemical composition of chili peppers and is of utmost importance to identify varieties with the strongest bioprospecting potential. In this study, 19 chili pepper varieties were investigated originating from Capsicum annuum L.
