Unlabelled: Sakai R, Koike Y, Saito K, Matsunaga T, Shimada Y, Miyakoshi N. Aphasia testing (auditory comprehension domain) using a new eye-tracking system in healthy participants. Jpn J Compr Rehabil Sci 2022; 13: 31-35.
Objective: We administered a conventional pointing-method test with eye-tracking to evaluate items associated with auditory comprehension and examined the concordance between the obtained results.
Methods: The enrolled participants were 10 healthy volunteers. We performed tests after extracting auditory comprehension items from the SLTA, the WAB, and the Supplementary tests for the SLTA using the eye-tracking system and the pointing method.
Results: The mean test duration was 9 min 51 s ± 1 min 41 s (mean ± SD), and the percentage of correct answers was 100% and in perfect agreement for the pointing method and the eye-tracking system. The mean response time was 0.96 ± 0.36 s for the pointing method and -0.39 ± 0.21 s for the eye-tracking system. Hence, the latter was faster than the former, and examinees completed their responses before listening to the end of the questions.
Conclusion: The new eye-tracking system makes it possible to perform aphasia tests (auditory comprehension items) comparable to the conventional pointing method.

This study aimed to identify brain activity modulations associated with different types of visual tracking using advanced functional magnetic resonance imaging techniques developed by the Human Connectome Project (HCP) consortium. Magnetic resonance imaging data were collected from 27 healthy volunteers using a 3-T scanner. During a single run, participants either fixated on a stationary visual target (fixation block) or tracked a smoothly moving or jumping target (smooth or saccadic tracking blocks), alternating across blocks.

Background: Electronic health records (EHRs) have been linked to information overload, which can lead to cognitive fatigue, a precursor to burnout. This can cause health care providers to miss critical information and make clinical errors, leading to delays in care delivery. This challenge is particularly pronounced in medical intensive care units (ICUs), where patients are critically ill and their EHRs contain extensive and complex data.

Eye tracking has the potential to be used as a meaningful measure of the consequences of vision impairment (VI), yet a comprehensive test battery is lacking. In this study, we sought to evaluate the feasibility and validity of a test battery of eye movements as a tool to measure visual performance in individuals with VI. A test battery including fixation stability, smooth pursuit, saccades, free viewing, and visual search was administered to 46 athletes with VI and 10 control participants.

Purpose: To investigate eye movement dynamics during excimer laser ablation, specifically femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (FS-LASIK), and compare movement patterns between the right eye (always operated on first) and the left eye (operated on second), analyzing direction, magnitude, and temporal changes.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 92 eyes from 46 patients who underwent FS-LASIK with the SCHWIND AMARIS system (SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions). Eye-tracking data were collected to record horizontal and vertical directional movements; variability was assessed using standardized metrics.

The present protocol evaluates the relative impact of visual and vestibular inputs during roll plane rotations using optokinetic, vestibular, and combined visuovestibular stimulations. Subjects underwent isolated visual rotations, whole-body vestibular rotations in darkness, and visuovestibular stimulations combining static visual scenes with head rotations. Dynamic and static eye movement gains, absolute amplitudes, velocities, and accelerations were measured alongside perceptual responses.
