This study radiologically and histologically compared two bioresorbable bone substitutes with different compositions carbonate apatite (Cytrans Granules; CGs) and β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) for vertical bone augmentation on a rat skull using a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) tubes. This PTFE tube was placed at the center of the skull, fixed with Super Bond, and augmented with CGs or β-TCP granules. Specimens with surrounding tissue were harvested at 4, 8, and 12 weeks postoperatively, and radiological and histological evaluations were performed. The bone volume to total volume ratio (BV/TV) of the β-TCP-implanted group was markedly higher than that of the CG-implanted group at 4 and 12 weeks postoperatively. Compared to CGs, β-TCP exhibited the ability to form blood vessels into the graft material for a short period after transplantation, as well as an elevated production of collagen into β-TCP granules during the bone formation process.

Objective: To compare the safety and efficacy of flexible and navigable suction (FANS) ureteral access sheath-assisted retrograde intrarenal surgery (FANS-RIRS) for infectious versus non-infectious stones.
Methods: A retrospective study of 274 patients treated with FANS-RIRS (November 2023–December 2024). Patients were stratified postoperatively into groups based on stone composition.

In this study, high-energy milled (HEM) samples of natural phosphorites from Estonian deposits were investigated. The activation was performed via planetary mill with Cr-Ni grinders with a diameter of 20 mm. This method is an ecological alternative, since it eliminates the disadvantages of conventional acid methods, namely the release of gaseous and solid technogenic products.

Background: Vertically fractured teeth often have a poor prognosis, and extraction is considered the most predictable treatment. Conventional management has consisted of preservation therapy involving extraction, bonding, root restoration, and replantation of fractured teeth. However, these methods fail to adequately address the periodontal tissue damage associated with root fractures.

We use a high temperature experiment to demonstrate a coupled substitution mechanism for carbonate and silica in apatite, namely 2PO → SiO + CO, with carbonate substituting for phosphate (type-B substitution). The carbonate anion group occupies a crystallographically distinct site as one of two side faces of a now vacant T site phosphate tetrahedron, and an oxygen site vacancy is formed. In our experiment, apatite is synthesised using a high-pressure carbonate flux method, resulting in large crystals amenable to a range of analytical techniques which are otherwise not feasible on the more commonly synthesised nanoscale material.

Objective: To assess the composition of urinary stones in Lanzhou area and provide a reference basis for its clinical prevention and treatment.
Methods: A total of 1284 patients with urinary stones were included in the study. The differences in the distribution of stone components among different genders and ages were then analyzed.
