Article Abstract

The Bigfoot Unity Diabetes Management System, a smart pen cap system cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in May 2021, incorporates continuous glucose monitoring data, real-time glycemic alerts, and clinician-directed dose recommendations. This study analyzed real-world clinical outcomes data for an initial cohort ( = 58, from 13 clinics) managing multiple daily injection insulin therapy using the pen cap system for 6 months. We examined glycemic control, including hypoglycemia events and interaction with and use of the pen cap system. In a cohort mainly consisting of adults with type 2 diabetes and an average age of 62 years, the results demonstrate close adherence to established glycemic targets, including a relatively short amount of time spent in the hypoglycemic range.

Difficult removal of an endobronchial foreign body: pen cap aspiration: a case report.

J Med Case Rep

June 2025

Department of Pediatric Pulmonology, The Children's Hospital, National Clinical Research Center for Child Health, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, 3333 Binsheng Road, Hangzhou, 310052, Zhejiang, China.

Background: Foreign body aspiration represents an important cause of morbidity and mortality during childhood. Foreign body aspiration is often missed clinically, especially in some children whose symptoms and signs are not obvious. A neglected aspirated foreign body can last for years, leading to recurrent pneumonia in mild cases and the potential to be life-threatening in severe cases.

The phosphorylated tau accumulation is a classical pathological hallmark of future cognitive decline and a cause of neuronal death in Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, we developed multi-functionalized chitosan (CS) based polymeric micelles to effectively deliver pApoE2 via intranasal administration to the brain. The CS was modified with caproic acid (CA), cell-penetrating peptide penetratin (PEN), and GLUT-1 transporter ligand mannose (MAN) for selective and enhanced delivery to the brain.

The usual presentation of foreign body (FB) aspiration into the tracheobronchial tree is a choking sensation followed by recurrent respiratory symptoms. Without a definitive history, the diagnosis of FB aspiration can be challenging. Here, we present a case of a 40-year-old male who presented with recurrent episodes of blood-stained sputum over the past six years.

Purpose: To analyse the effects of argon cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) on canine corneas.

Methods: Healthy canine eyes ( = 20) were subjected to a keratectomy (5 × 7 mm, 400 μm) and divided into two control (c1-not cultured; t0-cultured) and two treatment groups (t2, t5-treatment of 2 or 5 min, cultured); = 5 eyes each. The kINPen VET (neoplas GmbH, Greifswald, Germany) was used for CAP treatment.
