Article Abstract

Designing and innovating organic structure-directing agents is the key to synthesizing novel molecular sieve structures. Herein, we design a novel carbazolyl-modified template and further synthesize a two-dimensional layered aluminophosphate with [CHN][Al(PO)]·5HO (denoted as ZHKU-2). ZHKU-2 is composed of AA-stacked [AlPO16] layers constructed from alternating AlO and PO(=O) tetrahedrons to form a 4.6.8 network featured by capped six-ring secondary building units. Carbazolyl-templated ZHKU-2 exhibits strong purple fluorescence with a high quantum yield of 25.98%. This work expands aluminophosphate materials of the [AlPO] family and provides a view for synthesizing new molecular sieves by exploring the organic luminescence structure-directing agents.

Microporous alumophosphate molecular sieves AlPO-n are promising materials for use in catalysis, gas adsorption, and gas separation. However, AlPO-n faces problems such as diffusion limitations that lead to a deterioration in mass transfer. To solve this problem, we studied the crystallization of alumophosphate reaction gels prepared using aluminum isopropoxide and various secondary amines as templates, including diethyl-, di-n-propyl-, diisopropyl-, and di-n-butylamines.

Small-pore aluminophosphate (AlPO) molecular sieves (MSs), particularly those in the ABC-6 family, have gained significant attention for their unique capabilities in selective adsorption and energy storage. However, developing new synthesis strategies for designing AlPOs with three-dimensional (3D) channel systems and determining the structures of nanosized novel AlPO MSs remain challenging tasks. In this study, we introduce a new small-pore AlPO with a 3D channel system, named DNL-17, synthesized by using a diquaternary ammonium compound as an organic structure-directing agent (OSDA).

The structure of HPM-3, a layered aluminophosphate prepared using 1,2,3-trimethylimidazolium (123TMI) as an organic structure-directing agent by the fluoride route, has been solved by continuous rotation electron diffraction (cRED), and Rietveld refined against synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction data. Charge balance of the occluded cation is achieved through F anions and dangling Al(OP)OH groups. Half of the Al is pentacoordinated in negatively charged Al(OP)-F-Al(OP) pairs.

The interzeolite conversion (IZC) of metallo- and aluminophosphate zeolites was demonstrated using a non-cyclic secondary amine, diisopropylamine, as the organic structure-directing agent (OSDA). The IZC of AlPO-5 with topology could successfully produce an unknown highly crystalline phase, named GAM-7. In metallo-aluminophosphates (metal-AlPOs), SAPO-5 with a small amount of SiO was also interconverted to a single crystal GAM-7, designated as [Si]GAM-7.
