Objective Enhancing the practical competencies of novice public health nurses is urgently needed, and the identification of organizational factors that management-level public health nurses can improve is crucial for effective human resource development within organizations. This study aimed to explore the challenges and organizational factors perceived by management-level public health nurses when developing 10 types of practical competencies for their novice peers. Methods A self-administered questionnaire survey was conducted via postal mail or the Internet in November 2023, targeting five senior management-level public health nurses in each of the 210 municipalities across seven prefectures in the Tokai-Hokuriku region of Japan.

Background: When using semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) for single-analyte sensing, recognition is commonly achieved through interactions with capping ligands attached to the QDs surface. These ligands form an organic layer that provides stability in solution and assures selectivity by binding the target analyte via surface functional groups. However, a common analytical challenge arises in the subsequent stage of the QD-based sensing scheme.

Background: Breast-conserving surgery (BCS) is the primary surgical approach for patients with breast cancer. The accurate determination of surgical margins during BCS is critical for patient prognosis; however, time constraints and limitations in current pathological techniques often prevent pathologists from performing this assessment intraoperatively. The inability to reliably assess margins during surgery can lead to incomplete tumor removal and the need for additional surgeries.

Background: Pain management in palliative care, especially among cancer patients, remains a critical challenge that significantly affects patient quality of life. Virtual Reality (VR) has emerged as a promising non-pharmacological intervention that could revolutionize pain management strategies in this vulnerable population. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluate the effectiveness of VR interventions, focusing exclusively on randomized controlled trials to provide a comprehensive assessment of VR as a therapeutic tool.

Currently, electrocatalytic conversion of carbon dioxide into higher-value compounds is a promising approach. However, developing a stable and efficient catalyst with high selectivity for specific products remains a major challenge. Herein, we constructed a bismuth-based metal-organic framework (Bi-MOF) as a catalyst for the catalytic production of formic acid from carbon dioxide, to which different ratios of tin metal elements were doped.
