The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of using calcium anacardate (CaA) as a source of anacardic acid and its association with citric acid (CA) in diets for breeding quails on the performance, the egg quality, incubation parameters, and progeny performance. Were used 540 quails European quails (Coturnix coturnix coturnix) that were 21 weeks old, housed in laying cages based on a completely randomized design, with nine treatments and six replications of 10 quails per parcel, with each experimental unit having eight females and two males. The following additions to the diet were evaluated: 1, no addition (control diet); 2, 0.25% CaA; 3, 0.25% CaA and 0.25% CA; 4, 0.50% CaA; 5, 0.50% CaA and 0.25% CA; 6, 0.50% CaA and 0.50% CA; 7, 0.75% CaA; 8, 0.75% CaA and 0.25% CA; and 9, 0.75% CaA and 0.50% CA. The treatments had no significant effects on the performance of the breeding quails, incubation parameters, and progeny performance. For egg quality, there was only an effect on yolk lipid oxidation, which was lower for eggs from quails fed the diets containing 0.50% CaA and 0.25% CA, 0.50% CaA and 0.50% CA, or 0.75% CaA alone, when compared with the control group. Considering that including CaA with or without CA in diets for breeding quails only affected yolk lipid oxidation, it can be recommend including 0.50% CaA and 0.25% CA or 0.75% CaA alone to mitigate oxidative damage in the yolk of fertile eggs.

Unlabelled: Piperine, the primary bioactive compound in black pepper, was complexed with cyclic glucans, including cycloamylose (CA), α-cyclodextrin, and 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin, to investigate the complexation effects on its solubility, stability, bioavailability, and cellular antioxidant activity (CAA). The formation of inclusion complex (IC) significantly improved the phase solubility of piperine and enhanced its stability under ultraviolet light, heat, and acidic conditions. Additionally, IC increased the retention rate of piperine after in vitro digestion.

Enlarged perivascular spaces (PVS) in the centrum semiovale are an important marker of Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy (CAA) and are thought to reflect brain clearance dysfunction. However, the current golden standard for assessing PVS is limited to a unilateral, single slice, qualitative analysis, which has the disadvantage of a strong ceiling effect. We aim to introduce a whole-brain PVS volume fraction (PVS) measurement to assess cross-sectional and longitudinal PVS differences between pre-symptomatic and symptomatic Dutch-type CAA (D-CAA) mutation carriers and similar-age controls.

Introduction: Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) is a major cause of primary lobar intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) due to cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) or hypertensive arteriopathy (HA). Sex differences in CSVD imaging markers and prevalence of CAA vs HA in lobar ICH remain unexplored.

Background: The aim of our study was to evaluate the long-term impacts of Kawasaki disease on our patients regarding coronary involvement demographic characteristics, treatment regimens, and clinical course.
Methods: Our study included 104 patients diagnosed and hospitalized with Kawasaki disease in our center, from January 2004 to January 2019. In our study, patients were divided into three groups according to coronary artery involvement.
