Article Abstract

Based on computer-aided drug design (CADD), the active groups of the known active small molecule compounds that can bind to EGFR target protein were analyzed through the molecular docking method. Then, 12 novel asiatic acid derivatives were synthesized by introducing active groups at ring A and C-28 positions of asiatic acid. The structures of these novel compounds were determined by NMR and MS. Furthermore, the anti-tumor activities of these derivatives on human lung cancer cells (A549) and human breast cancer cells (MCF-7) were evaluated by MTT assay. In conclusion, compounds and have stronger anti-cancer activity than parent compounds, the activities were stronger than gefitinib and comparable to afatinib, which may be potential candidate compounds for tumor therapy.

Endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) is a critical contributor of renal fibrosis in diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Asiatic acid (AA), a natural triterpenoid compound, exhibits notable endothelial protective and anti-fibrotic properties; however, its impact on EndMT in DKD remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effect of AA against EndMT in DKD and the underlying mechanisms.

(L.) Urb., also known as Indian pennywort, is an important ethnomedicinal herb valued for its bioactive compounds, including asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid, collectively termed centellosides, which possess neuroprotective, wound-healing, and antioxidant properties In the present study, 87 accessions of were collected from six agro-climatic zones of West Bengal, India, and evaluated for centelloside content and bioactivity.

Objectives: Early diagnosis and timely treatment of renal fibrosis can improve the prognosis of patients with nephropathy. We aim to investigate the utility of multi-parametric MRI for evaluating early renal fibrosis and therapeutic efficacy in a rat model.

Methods: Eighty-four male SD rats receiving tail vein injection of adriamycin doxorubicin (ADR) to establish renal fibrosis models were utilized.

Centella asiatica, commonly known as Gotu Kola, has been used for centuries in traditional medicine due to its neuroprotective and cognitive-enhancing properties. This study explores the potential of bioactive compounds from Centella asiatica, including asiaticoside, madecassoside, and asiatic acid, as natural inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase (AChE), a key enzyme implicated in neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease. Using a comprehensive in silico approach, we performed multiple-ligand mapping, docking simulations, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, and Molecular Mechanics Poisson-Boltzmann Surface Area (MM-PBSA) calculations.
