This study investigated the protective effects of dietary niacin on the intestinal health of juvenile turbot fed a high-lipid diet (HLD). Two isonitrogenous and isolipidic diets were formulated, including a HLD without niacin addition (HL0) and a HLD supplemented with 80 mg/kg niacin (HL80). Turbot (approximately 13.

Functioning as molecular chaperones, heat shock proteins (HSPs) are rapidly upregulated under stress conditions, safeguarding cells against damage induced by heat, mechanical injury, and chemical agents. Despite their critical physiological roles, a comprehensive genome-wide characterization of HSP genes has been lacking for Sebastes schlegelii, a commercially important coastal benthic fish. In this study, we systematically identified the HSP gene family and analyzed its expression profiles.

Paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) is a pervasive human health concern associated with subsistence, recreationally and commercially harvested Alaskan shellfish. PSP is caused by saxitoxins (STX), a family of structurally similar neurotoxins produced by the marine microalgae Alexandrium catenella (formerly A. fundyense).

The zig-zag eel (Mastacembelus armatus) is a commercially important fish species in southern China, yet its susceptibility to Plesiomonas shigelloides (P. shigelloides) infection remains poorly understood. In this study, 100 μL of YY001 (1 × 10 CFU/mL) was used to intraperitoneally infect the zig-zag eel, and its effect on the hepatopancreas of the M.

Decapod iridescent virus 1 (DIV1) is an emerging viral pathogen responsible for high mortality in cultured Macrobrachium rosenbergii. Despite the pivotal role of hemocytes in shrimp antiviral immunity, the subpopulation-specific apoptotic dynamics in response to DIV1 remain unclear. In this study, we integrated flow cytometry and single-cell RNA sequencing to dissect hemocyte responses during DIV1 infection.
