A 13-year-old, spayed, female mixed breed dog that had previously undergone mastectomy and ovariohysterectomy was referred for evaluation of metastasis after surgery. F-deoxy-2-D-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET-CT) was performed and a soft-tissue mass was observed in the abdominal cavity. The characteristics of the abdominal mass were assessed and screening for metastasis was done with follow-up 18F-FDG PET scans. Uptake of F-deoxy-2-D-glucose was higher in the peripheral region and lower in the center of the abdominal mass. Exploratory laparotomy was performed, and the removed abdominal mass was consistent with a gossypiboma, which is a retained surgical sponge composed of non-absorbable material with cotton matrix. This case report describes the characteristics of 18F-FDG PET-CT imaging in a dog with an abdominal gossypiboma, which has not been reported in the veterinary literature before.

Background: Cryolipolysis is an effective, well-tolerated noninvasive subcutaneous fat reduction treatment.
Objective: Assess participant satisfaction, effectiveness, and safety of a dual-applicator cryolipolysis system that can deliver simultaneous treatments.
Materials And Methods: Adult participants received treatment to the abdomen/flanks (midsection).

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) research is hindered by limited comprehensive analyses of plasma proteome across disease subtypes. Here, we systematically investigated the associations between plasma proteins and cardiovascular outcomes in 53,026 UK Biobank participants over a 14-year follow-up. Association analyses identified 3,089 significant associations involving 892 unique protein analytes across 13 CVD outcomes.

Unlabelled: Pancreatic signet ring cell carcinoma (PSRCC) is a rare and aggressive subtype of pancreatic cancer with a dismal prognosis. We present the case of a 50-year-old male who, within six weeks, developed a pancreatic mass with liver metastases. Endoscopic ultrasound-guided biopsy confirmed PSRCC.

Small intestinal diverticulosis is a rare condition, often asymptomatic until complicated with diverticulitis, bleeding, obstruction, or perforation. It predominantly affects elderly men and may present concomitantly with colon diverticulosis. We report the case of a 94-year-old Hispanic woman brought to the emergency department presenting with an acute abdomen.

Aims: Obesity is associated with increased insulin-stimulated brain glucose uptake (BGU) which is opposite to decreased GU observed in peripheral tissues. Increased BGU was shown to be reversed by weight loss and exercise training, but the mechanisms remain unknown. We investigated whether neuroinflammation (TSPO availability) and brain activity drive the obesity-associated increase in BGU and whether this increase is reversed by exercise training.
