Article Abstract

Objective: To describe the health-care resources implemented during the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix (F1GP) and to calculate the patient presentation rate (PPR) based on both real data and a prediction model.

Methods: Observational and descriptive study conducted from September 9 to September 11, 2022, during the Italian F1GP hosted in Monza (Italy). Maurer's formula was applied to decide the number and type of health resources to be allocated. Patient presentation rate (PPR) was computed based on real data (PPR_real) and based on the Arbon formula (PPR_est).

Results: Of 336,000 attendees, = 263 requested medical assistance with most of them receiving treatment at the advanced medical post, and = 16 needing transport to the hospital. The PPR_real was 51 for Friday, 78 for Saturday, 134 for Sunday, and 263 when considering the whole event as a single event. The PPR_est resulted in 85 for Friday, 93 for Saturday, 97 for Sunday, and 221 for the total population.

Conclusions: A careful organization of health-care resources could mitigate the impact of the Italian F1GP on local hospital facilities. The Arbon formula is an acceptable model to predict and estimate the number of patients requesting medical assistance, but further investigation needs to be conducted to implement the model and tailor it to broader categories of MGE.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is increasingly prevalent among the elderly, yet current diagnostic criteria often fail to distinguish between true CKD and age-related physiological decline in glomerular filtration rate (GFR). This overestimation can lead to overdiagnosis, overtreatment, and psychological distress. Frailty, a common condition in older adults, further complicates the clinical picture.

Aim: The aim of the study was to define compliance and clinical efficacy on sleep disorders of a niaprazine-based galenic product; the active molecule marketed by an Italian pharmaceutical company since long time is no longer available as medical prescriptions are mostly oriented towards benzodiazepines and derivatives whose side effects in the medium-long term suggest however moderating and modulating their use. Niaprazine might therefore be prescribed in the interval drop out of benzodiazepines, or even as a primary therapeutic indication without significant side effects as widely confirmed by its previous historical use very frequent in children. Our research evaluated some aspects of prescribing pertinence and the clinical outcome results obtained with the use of galenic niaprazine in a cohort of patients with an indication for hypnoinducing treatment.

Ceratitis capitata, is one of the most considerable invasive pests affecting fruit production worldwide. Conventional pesticides are generally formulated using organic solvents and emulsifiers that, in turn, are flammable and toxic. Thanks to their small size and biocompatibility, liposome-like formulations may significantly improve the efficacy and safety of conventional pesticides.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of multidrug resistance (MDR) on the mortality of cancer patients with bloodstream infection (BSI) by Gram-negative bacilli (GNB).

Patients And Methods: This was a prospective observational multicentre study including cancer patients with BSI caused by GNB (June 2018-January 2020). The primary outcome was 30-day mortality.

Aging is an inevitable process that is usually measured by chronological age, with people aged 65 and over being defined as "older individuals". There is disagreement in the current scientific literature regarding the best methods to estimate glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in older adults. Several studies suggest the use of an age-adjusted definition to improve accuracy and avoid overdiagnosis.
