Importance: Patients with kidney failure (KF) receiving long-term dialysis have increased incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF). Patients with KF and AF have increased risk of stroke, death, and bleeding compared with age-matched cohorts. In KF, the use of oral anticoagulants (OACs) increases hemorrhage risk, offsetting potential benefits and making left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) a potentially promising solution for risk reduction in AF.

This study aimed to evaluate fluoride concentrations in a variety of commonly consumed teas and Herbal infusions in Brazil and assess potential Health risks associated with their ingestion. A total of 21 samples were analyzed, including 12 loose-leaf and 9 commercially bagged products. Fluoride quantification was performed using a validated spectrophotometric method, and a deterministic and probabilistic human Health risk assessment was conducted.

Background: Long-term outcomes of transcatheter mitral valve edge-to-edge repair (TEER) are compared with medical therapy remain under investigation. This study evaluated the 3-year effects of MitraClip on mitral regurgitation (MR) severity, ventricular remodeling, and clinical outcomes in high surgical-risk patients.
Methods: A single-center retrospective cohort included 31 MitraClip patients (2016-2023) and 30 contemporaneous controls on maximally tolerated guideline-directed medical therapy.

Background: Residual leaks are common after left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO).
Objectives: The authors aimed to systematically evaluate the prognostic implications of residual left atrial appendage (LAA) patency and peridevice leaks (PDLs) detected by cardiac computed tomography (CT) following LAAO.
Methods: The authors used traditional meta-analytical methods and a Bayesian framework to assess the probability of increased risks associated with these residual leaks.

Atraumatic bilateral osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a rare phenomenon whose etiology is not fully understood. In this report, we describe the case of a 75-year-old female patient who developed rapidly onset bilateral ONFH after intra-articular corticosteroid injections. She was treated with staged bilateral total hip arthroplasty.
