Atraumatic bilateral osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a rare phenomenon whose etiology is not fully understood. In this report, we describe the case of a 75-year-old female patient who developed rapidly onset bilateral ONFH after intra-articular corticosteroid injections. She was treated with staged bilateral total hip arthroplasty.

The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of a whole food plant-based diet (WFPBD) to improve day of surgery fasting blood glucose (FBG) among patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Ten patients with T2D scheduled for a total hip or total knee replacement were recruited. For 3 weeks preceding their surgeries, subjects were asked to consume an entirely WFPBD.

Background: The original Charnley-type negative-pressure body exhaust suit reduced infection rates in randomized trials of total joint arthroplasty (TJA) decades ago. However, modern positive-pressure surgical helmet systems have not shown similar benefit, and several recent studies have raised the question of whether these gowning systems result in increased wound contamination and infections. The gown-glove interface may be one source of particle contamination.
