To improve local control, neoadjuvant radiotherapy (nRT) followed by surgery is the standard of care in myxofibrosarcoma (MFS) because of its infiltrative growth pattern. Nevertheless, local recurrence rates are high. Data on prognostic factors for poor clinical outcomes are lacking. This retrospective study thus investigates the prognostic relevance of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics before and after nRT in 40 MFS patients, as well as their association with disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). A vascular pedicle, defined as extra-tumoral vessels at the tumor periphery, was observed in 12 patients (30.0%) pre-nRT and remained present post-nRT in all cases. Patients with a vascular pedicle had worse DFS (HR 5.85; 95% CI 1.56-21.90; = 0.009) and OS (HR 9.58; 95% CI 1.91-48.00; = 0.006). An infiltrative growth pattern, referred to as a tail sign, was observed in 22 patients (55.0%) pre-nRT and in 19 patients (47.5%) post-nRT, and was associated with worse DFS post-nRT (HR 6.99; 95% CI 1.39-35.35; = 0.019). The percentage of tumor necrosis estimated by MRI was increased post-nRT, but was not associated with survival outcomes. The presence of a tail sign or vascular pedicle on MRI could support the identification of patients at risk for poor clinical outcomes after nRT.

Objective: Reveal the changing rule of the positional relationship between the uncinate process of cervical spine and vertebral artery by measuring the relevant parameters between the uncinate process of cervical spine and vertebral artery in different age groups.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 1240 cases of cervical spine imaging data from 2018 to 2021 in the Radiology Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University. The distance between the uncinate process superior ridge and vertebral artery and the maximum of pedicle transverse angle, the minimum of pedicle transverse angle, the range of pedicle transverse angle and the pedicle width were measured according to age groups.

Background: Early detection of vascular compromise is pivotal for successful microvascular flap reconstruction, as tissue necrosis can begin within 6 to 8 hours of circulatory impairment. Although conventional monitoring relies on subjective clinical assessment of color, temperature, and capillary refill-methods with inherent observer variability and diminished utility in patients with darker skin tones-emerging technologies offer potential for more objective evaluation. This study compared the efficacy of infrared thermography (IRT), a noninvasive modality that quantifies perfusion through precise temperature mapping, with traditional clinical methods for postoperative flap monitoring.

Recurrent dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) of the anterior chest wall in elderly patients presents a complex reconstructive challenge, necessitating approaches that balance oncological radicality with minimized morbidity and optimal tissue quality for potential adjuvant radiotherapy. We report the case of an 84-year-old woman with an eighth recurrence of chest wall DFSP. Following wide local excision with clear margins, a significant soft tissue defect remained.
