In this study, we demonstrate the sintering of metastable ε-FeO nanoparticles into nanoceramics containing 98 wt% of the epsilon iron oxide phase and with a specific density of 60%. At room temperature, the ceramics retain a giant coercivity of 20 kOe and a sub-terahertz absorption at 190 GHz inherent in the initial nanoparticles. The sintering leads to an increase in the frequencies of the natural ferromagnetic resonance at 200-300 K and larger coercivities at temperatures below 150 K. We propose a simple but working explanation of the low-temperature dynamics of the macroscopic magnetic parameters of the ε-FeO materials the transition of the smallest nanoparticles into a superparamagnetic state. The results are confirmed by the temperature dependence of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant and micromagnetic modeling. In addition, based on the Landau-Lifshitz formalism, we discuss features of the spin dynamics in ε-FeO and the possibility of using nanoceramics as sub-terahertz spin-pumping media. Our observations will expand the applicability of ε-FeO materials and promote their integration into telecommunication devices of the next generation.

The binary composites of liquid () and crystalline () difluoroboron β-diketonate (BFdbk) complexes exhibited a metastable nature arising from the intricate interplay between their liquid and crystalline components in bulk. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements indicate nearly complete miscibility of and when the fractional volume of occupied a substantial portion, corresponding to below 47 mol % of the content. In contrast, polarized optical microscopic (POM) observations unveiled that the / composites between two glass slides crystallized regardless of the content.

The performance of NiO-based electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is strongly influenced by the interface between the metal support (current collector) and the catalyst layer, which modulates electronic properties and electrochemical activity. This study systematically investigates the solid-solid interface behavior of NiO thin films prepared by reactive magnetron sputtering on Pt, Au, and Ni, followed by electrochemical characterization. Stepwise NiO deposition and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveal distinct band alignment and electronic structure differences at the metal-catalyst interface.

Precisely structured nanoclusters provide ideal platforms for elucidating structural evolution and structure-activity relationships. However, mechanistic understanding of dynamic core-shell rearrangements has long been impeded by the elusive nature of intermediates during transformation processes. Here, we show that ligand engineering-driven asymmetric thiolate exchange enables atomic-level visualization of structural evolution, thereby overcoming the long-standing challenge of intermediate capture.

Cocaine use disorder (CUD) is characterized by cortico-striatal circuit dysregulation and high relapse rates, with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) emerging as a potential neuromodulatory intervention. This study investigates rTMS-induced dynamic brain network reconfigurations in 30 CUD patients using longitudinal resting-state fMRI from the SUDMEX-TMS cohort. Applying Leading Eigenvector Dynamics Analysis (LEiDA) to phase-locking states, we identified four metastable network configurations mapped to canonical resting-state networks.

For a long time, it was believed that the monoclinic potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) crystal could not grow directly in solution, unlike its deuterated isomer DKDP. This perception was overturned when the crystal was observed to crystallize in highly supersaturated aqueous solutions. Till now, the phase stability of the monoclinic KDP remains unknown.
