Article Abstract

Otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) are low-level sounds generated by the inner ear that provide a non-invasive assessment of cochlear health. Advanced applications require recording OAEs across a wide range of frequencies and stimulus levels. Detailed here is a method for efficiently measuring distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAEs) across an expansive stimulus space. Specifically, DPOAEs are recorded by sweeping the evoking stimuli in level across multiple frequencies simultaneously. This method generates DPOAE growth functions at multiple f2 frequencies in several minutes. Results indicate the swept level method yields DPOAEs equivalent to those measured in a traditional (discrete stimulus) paradigm, but with several advantages.

The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals provides recommendations on sanitation frequencies for rodent caging equipment; however, it allows for performance standards to be used when extending this frequency for individually ventilated cage (IVC) caging. Our institution wanted to reexamine our current standards of care for mouse IVC caging, which includes a 14-d cage bottom and bedding change as well as the use of corncob bedding. This was driven by desire to reduce the stress to mice associated with cage change, and by recent literature showing a potential improved absorbency and multiple health and welfare benefits of paper pulp cellulose bedding products.

Introduction: Etripamil is a fast-acting intranasally self-administered calcium-channel blocker developed for termination of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT). Prior studies have demonstrated safety and efficacy of etripamil for PSVT termination following an initial medically supervised test dose during sinus rhythm. NODE-303 is an open-label, single-arm study that evaluated etripamil for multiple, at-home PSVT episodes, without test dose before first use.

This study aimed to evaluate the quality of multidisciplinary team (MDT) management in healthcare-associated infection (HAI) prevention and control, as well as its impact on multidrug-resistant organism (MDRO) infections. This was a retrospective, single-center study with a small sample size. A total of 400 patients admitted to the Departments of Critical Care Medicine or Orthopedics between January 2022 and December 2023 were divided into a control group (n = 200, receiving conventional HAI management) and an experimental group (n = 200, undergoing MDT management).

Background: Echocardiographic reference intervals for Quarter Horses are infrequently reported.

Objectives: To provide standard echocardiographic measurements for sedentary Quarter Horses and evaluate the relationship between physical characteristics (body weight, age, sex) and echocardiographic measurements.

Animals: Forty-one sedentary Quarter Horses, free of cardiac disease, from a university research herd.

Aim: To explore nursing students' satisfaction levels of each specific item and perceptions under the unprecedented abrupt online clinical practicum during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Design: A mixed-method design comprises a questionnaire and qualitative content analysis.

Methods: The study used purposive sampling using data from nursing students in grade 3 of a 4-year bachelor RN programme at a technological university in the north of Taiwan, compiled from May 2021 to June 2021 using an online questionnaire.
