The increasing interest in innovative solutions for health and physiological monitoring has recently fostered the development of smaller biomedical devices. These devices are capable of recording an increasingly large number of biosignals simultaneously, while maximizing the user's comfort. In this study, we have designed and realized a novel wearable multisensor ring-shaped probe that enables synchronous, real-time acquisition of photoplethysmographic (PPG) and galvanic skin response (GSR) signals. The device integrates both the PPG and GSR sensors onto a single probe that can be easily placed on the finger, thereby minimizing the device footprint and overall size. The system enables the extraction of various physiological indices, including heart rate (HR) and its variability, oxygen saturation (SpO), and GSR levels, as well as their dynamic changes over time, to facilitate the detection of different physiological states, e.g., rest and stress. After a preliminary SpO calibration procedure, measurements have been carried out in laboratory on healthy subjects to demonstrate the feasibility of using our system to detect rapid changes in HR, skin conductance, and SpO across various physiological conditions (i.e., rest, sudden stress-like situation and breath holding). The early findings encourage the use of the device in daily-life conditions for real-time monitoring of different physiological states.

A fully implantable sensorized organ to replace the natural urinary bladder holds considerable promise for patients undergoing radical cystectomy. Clinical options to restore continence include urine redirection to wearable bags or reconstruction of neobladders from autologous tissues, often with limited capacity. However, none of these approaches can restore patient's ability to perceive bladder fullness, making voiding self-management complex and burdensome.

This study presents a gesture-based authentication system utilizing triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) sensors. As self-powered devices capable of generating high-voltage outputs without external power, TENG sensors are well-suited for low-power IoT sensors and smart device applications. The proposed system recognizes single tap, double tap, and holding gestures.

With the rapid advancement of the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain technologies, educational research has increasingly explored smart and personalized learning systems. However, current approaches often suffer from fragmented integration of health monitoring and instructional adaptation, insufficient prediction accuracy of physiological states, and unresolved concerns regarding data privacy and security. To address these challenges, this study introduces SHARP, a novel blockchain-enhanced wireless sensor networks (WSNs) framework designed for real-time student health monitoring and personalized learning in smart educational environments.

In the Internet of Things era, flexible and wearable gas sensors are increasingly vital for real-time monitoring in healthcare, environmental safety, and industrial security. These sensors detect hazardous gases at room temperature and seamlessly integrate with clothing and portable devices. The 2D materials, including transition metal dichalcogenides, black phosphorus, MXenes, graphene and its derivatives, and metal-organic frameworks, stand out due to their exceptional electrical, mechanical, and physicochemical properties, such as large surface areas, high carrier mobility, and intrinsic flexibility.

Smart safety helmets equipped with vision systems are emerging as powerful tools for industrial infrastructure inspection. This paper presents a comprehensive state-of-the-art review of such VSLAM-enabled (Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) helmets. We surveyed the evolution from basic helmet cameras to intelligent, sensor-fused inspection platforms, highlighting how modern helmets leverage real-time visual SLAM algorithms to map environments and assist inspectors.
