Article Abstract

A four-dimensional delay differential equations (DDEs) model of malaria with standard incidence rate is proposed. By utilizing the limiting system of the model and Lyapunov direct method, the global stability of equilibria of the model is obtained with respect to the basic reproduction number . Specifically, it shows that the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable (GAS) for < 1, and globally attractive (GA) for = 1, while the endemic equilibrium is GAS and is unstable for > 1. Especially, to obtain the global stability of the equilibrium for > 1, the weak persistence of the model is proved by some analysis techniques.

Background: Children with congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) have a wide spectrum of possible neurodevelopmental outcomes.

Objectives: To describe neurodevelopmental (ND) Phenotypes of children with cCMV based on medical, developmental, and behavioral outcomes in childhood, and examine whether birth characteristics were associated with ND Phenotype.

Methods: Caregivers of children with cCMV (N = 242, child aged 12 months to <11 years) completed survey instruments reporting on the child's birth characteristics, reasons for cCMV testing, and present medical, developmental, and behavioral status.

The flexibility of the spatio-temporal genome replication program during development and disease highlights the regulatory role of plastic epigenetic mechanisms over genetic determinants. Histone post-translational modifications are broadly implicated in replication timing control, yet the specific mechanisms through which individual histone marks influence replication dynamics, particularly in heterochromatin, remain unclear. Here, we demonstrate that H3K36me3 dynamically enriches at pericentromeric heterochromatin, composed of major satellite DNA repeats, prior to replication during mid S phase in mouse embryonic stem cells.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a life-threatening condition lacking effective treatment. We investigate the role of the deubiquitinating enzyme USP21 in AAA development. Proteomic analysis reveals significant upregulation of USP21 in murine and human abdominal aortic tissues.

Omega loop C (residues 40-57) of cytochrome c (Cytc) is a common location for naturally-occurring variants of human Cytc that cause thrombocytopenia 4 (THC4). These variants are characterized by significant increases in the intrinsic peroxidase activity of Cytc, which appears to be linked to increased dynamics in Ω-loop D (residues 71-85). The mutations in Ω-loop C enhance the dynamics of Ω-loop D by decreasing the acid dissociation constant of the trigger group (pK) of the alkaline conformational transition.
