Article Abstract

Phenotypic diversity of flowering plants stems from common basic features of the plant body pattern with well-defined body axes, organs and tissue organisation. Cell division and cell specification are the two processes that underlie the formation of a body pattern. As plant cells are encased into their cellulosic walls, directional cell division through precise positioning of division plane is crucial for shaping plant morphology. Since many plant cells are pluripotent, their fate establishment is influenced by their cellular environment through cell-to-cell signaling. Recent studies show that apart from biochemical regulation, these two processes are also influenced by cell and tissue morphology and operate under mechanical control. Finding a proper model system that allows dissecting the relationship between these aspects is the key to our understanding of pattern establishment. In this review, we present the embryo as a simple, yet comprehensive model of pattern formation compatible with high-throughput quantitative assays.

Babesia bigemina, a tick-borne protozoan parasite, is one of the main causative agents of bovine babesiosis, a disease with significant economic impact on the cattle industry. One of the key enzymes involved in the parasite's metabolism is lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), which plays an essential role in the anaerobic glycolytic pathway by catalysing the conversion of pyruvate to lactate. In this study, B.

Background: Identifying molecular alterations specific to advanced lung adenocarcinomas could provide insights into tumour progression and dissemination mechanisms.

Method: We analysed tumour samples, either from locoregional lesions or distant metastases, from patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma from the SAFIR02-Lung trial by targeted sequencing of 45 cancer genes and comparative genomic hybridisation array and compared them to early tumours samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas.

Results: Differences in copy-number alterations frequencies suggest the involvement in tumour progression of LAMB3, TNN/KIAA0040/TNR, KRAS, DAB2, MYC, EPHA3 and VIPR2, and in metastatic dissemination of AREG, ZNF503, PAX8, MMP13, JAM3, and MTURN.

ConspectusWhat does the word antioxidant mean? Antioxidants are supposed to be nontoxic, versatile molecules capable of counteracting the damaging effects of oxidative stress (OS). Thus, when evaluating a candidate molecule as an antioxidant, several aspects should be considered. Antioxidants are more than free radical scavengers.

In the hippocampal formation, cholinergic modulation from the medial septum/diagonal band of Broca (MSDB) is known to correlate with the speed of an animal's movements at sub-second timescales and also supports spatial memory formation. Yet, the extent to which sub-second cholinergic dynamics, if at all, align with transient behavioral and cognitive states supporting the encoding of novel spatial information remains unknown. In this study, we used fiber photometry to record the temporal dynamics in the population activity of septo-hippocampal cholinergic neurons at sub-second resolution during a hippocampus-dependent object location memory task using ChAT-Cre mice of both sexes.
