A 60-year-old Japanese woman presented with a palatal pleomorphic adenoma measuring 5 cm in size. In addition to impairments during the oral preparatory and oral transport phases, dysphagia with nasopharyngeal closure disorder was observed in the pharyngeal phase. After resection of the tumor, dysphagia resolved, and the patient was immediately able to eat a standard meal. A videofluoroscopic swallowing study confirmed improvement in the movement of the soft palate compared with the pre-operative condition.

Pleomorphic adenoma is the most prevalent benign tumor of the salivary glands. While it primarily affects the parotid gland, it can also arise from minor salivary glands in the soft palate. A case of a 28-year-old female who presented with a painless, slowly enlarging mass on the soft palate was reported.

Epithelioid angiosarcoma is a rare and aggressive malignant neoplasm of endothelial origin, with limited cases reported in the oral cavity. Its clinical and histopathological features often mimic benign and malignant vascular lesions, posing a diagnostic challenge. The current case report is of a 42 year old male, who presented with a sessile granular growth with ulcerated surface on the palatal gingiva of one year duration.

A 39-year-old female rhesus macaque (Macaca mulatta) presented for stertor that had progressed over a 2-year period. A mass involving the soft palate was seen partially obstructing the oropharynx. Histopathological examination revealed a well-circumscribed, partially encapsulated mass composed primarily of myoepithelial cells with scattered duct-like structures, squamous metaplasia and hyaline stroma.

Hyalinizing clear cell carcinoma (HCCC) is a salivary gland carcinoma characterized by the presence of clear and eosinophilic cells within a hyalinized stroma and the EWSR1 rearrangement. Aiming to identify prognostic factors and establish a grading system, we herein conducted a detailed clinicopathology review of a large retrospective cohort of 87 HCCCs from 7 tertiary centers. Most HCCCs (91%) originated from minor salivary glands, although major salivary glands were affected in 8%.
