The primary treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) consists of targeted therapy and chemotherapy to improve survival. A molecular target drug with an anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) antagonist is recommended when the RAS and BRAF genes are normal. About 50-70% of patients using anti-EGFR antagonists will experience skin reactions. Some studies have shown that severe skin reactions caused by anti-EGFR antagonists may be linked to overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS), but the results are still uncertain. These data of mCRC patients who underwent anti-EGFR therapy between October 2017 and October 2018 were analyzed retrospectively. A total of 111 patients were included in this study. The survival results showed that gender, age, body mass index, primary tumor site, and recurrence did not significantly affect OS and PFS. However, the first-line anti-EGFR inhibitor treatment was significantly associated with OS ( < 0.001) and PFS ( < 0.001). There was no significant difference in the incidence of acne between males and females in grades 1 and 2, while males have a greater risk in grades 3 and 4 than females (20.3 vs. 4.8%; -value = 0.041). Skin toxicity was not a predictor of anti-EGFR treatment response in this investigation.

Tattoos and permanent make-up (PMU) gain increasing popularity among the general population. There are indications that pigments or their fragments may translocate within the body, however knowledge about possible systemic adverse effects related to tattoos is very limited. We investigated the prevalence of systemic chronic health effects including cardiovascular diseases, cancer and liver toxicity and their relationship with the presence and characteristics of tattoos and PMU as part of the LIFE-Adult-study, a population-based cohort study.

Vitiligo, a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by the presence of depigmented skin patches, remains a therapeutic challenge due to its multifactorial pathogenesis and the absence of highly effective treatment options. Although the exact etiology of vitiligo is not fully understood, factors such as genetic factors, oxidative stress, autoimmunity, and inflammation are implicated in the destruction of melanocytes. Current therapeutic strategies primarily focus on modulating immune responses and alleviating oxidative stress.

Amivantamab, a bispecific EGFR-MET antibody, has demonstrated efficacy in EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) across multiple trials and is poised to enter first-line therapy. However, as with EGFR-targeted therapies, amivantamab is associated with distinctive cutaneous toxicities. This perspective summarizes clinical evidence on the frequency, nature, and severity of skin-related adverse events from key studies, outlining how, despite concerns initially raised among clinicians about its tolerability in routine practice, clinical experience indicates that amivantamab's cutaneous toxicities are manageable with proactive strategies and education.

Introduction: Preclinical evidence has demonstrated the potential of FLASH radiotherapy (FLASH-RT) to spare normal tissues compared to conventional (CONV) exposures. Most FLASH studies have used ultra-high dose rate (>40 Gy/sec) electrons and protons whilst comparatively few studies have reported photon FLASH responses. Given the widespread use of photons clinically, there is a need to characterise the FLASH effect using photons.
