Background: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neurodegenerative disorder with a largely unknown duration and pathophysiology of the pre-diagnostic phase, especially for the common non-monogenic form.

Methods: We leveraged the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) cohort with up to 30 years of follow-up to identify incident ALS cases across five European countries. Pre-diagnostic plasma samples from initially healthy participants underwent high-throughput proteomic profiling (7,285 protein markers, SomaScan).

Background: Insomnia is a toxicity of cancer and treatment for survivors without an objective biochemical measure. Circadian rhythms are 24-h cycles that influence physiologic processes including sleep, and disrupted rhythms may contribute to insomnia. Here, we use BloodCCD to assess circadian rhythms from RNA-sequencing of blood from cancer survivors with insomnia from the YOCAS-II trial.

Aim: To assess the association between WRIMC and perceived stress among physicians through the lens of 'occupational context' and psycho-physiological stressors as mediators.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Albania in January 2025 including a representative sample of 367 physicians (≈ 66% females; overall response rate: ≈90%). A structured 36-item questionnaire included demographic characteristics, WRIMC exposure and related psycho-physiological stressors and the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS).

The current model for autonomous circadian oscillation is based on the transcriptional-translational feedback loops of circadian genes. The deletion of one of the circadian genes and its paralogs leads to arrhythmicity. triple knockout ( KO) mice exhibit arrhythmic behavior in constant darkness.

The molecular circadian clock is known to be disrupted in lung adenocarcinoma, and its disruption is pro-tumorigenic in mouse models of this disease. However, the determinants of disruption of the molecular clock in human cancer are not clear. We hypothesized that derangement in expression of specific circadian clock genes or elevated MYC expression could correlate with circadian disruption in human tumors, and used Clock Correlation Distance (CCD) to compare clock order and strength in tumors based on the expression of these genes.
