Background: Fingolimod is an immunomodulatory drug that has shown promising effects in stroke treatment, including improvements in neurofunctional recovery and a reduction in infarct size. Fingolimod modulates the sphingosine-1-phosphate receptors, which leads to the internalization of sphingosine-1-phosphate receptors on T and B lymphocytes, thereby preventing their egress from secondary lymphoid organs. Here, we report a secondary analysis from the Stroke Preclinical Assessment Network trial.

There is a substantial unmet need for contraception in West Africa. Providing contraception in private pharmacies, which often are highly accessible, may alleviate some access barriers. However, privacy is a key concern for provision of contraceptives in pharmacies, and whether users view pharmacies as private is ambiguous.

A recent publication presented the results of a survey given to longevity experts that attended the 2022 Systems Aging Gordon Research Conference. Corroborating results from a prior survey and broader discussions in the field, the authors found that there was little consensus on fundamental topics, including what causes aging. While this disagreement is not particularly surprising, the spread of answers to the following prompt was unexpected: "The average lifespan in developed countries will be increased by >10 years in the next 20 years.

- In vivo CRISPR screens have identified key targets for cancer immunotherapy in CD8 T cells, but many genome regions still need further exploration.
- Researchers studied 899 genes in CD8 T cells reacting to melanoma and found that the E3 ubiquitin ligase STUB1 negatively regulates anti-tumor CD8 T cell function.
- Knocking out Stub1 leads to better tumor control in mouse models by affecting cytokine receptor expression, especially interleukin-27 receptor α, suggesting that targeting the STUB1-CHIC2 pathway could boost anti-tumor immunity in CD8 T cells.
