Explosive blasts are associated with neurological consequences as a result of blast waves impact on the brain. Yet, the neuropathologic and molecular consequences due to blast waves vs. blunt-TBI are not fully understood. An explosive-driven blast-generating system was used to reproduce blast wave exposure and examine pathological and molecular changes generated by primary wave effects of blast exposure. We assessed if pre- and post-synaptic (synaptophysin, PSD-95, spinophilin, GAP-43), neuronal (NF-L), glymphatic (LYVE1, podoplanin), myelin (MBP), neurovascular (AQP4, S100, PDGF) and genomic (DNA polymerase-, RNA polymerase II) markers could be altered across different brain regions of double blast vs. sham animals. Twelve male rats exposed to two consecutive blasts were compared to 12 control/sham rats. Western blot, ELISA, and immunofluorescence analyses were performed across the frontal cortex, hippocampus, cerebellum, and brainstem. The results showed altered levels of AQP4, S100, DNA-polymerase-, PDGF, synaptophysin and PSD-95 in double blast vs. sham animals in most of the examined regions. These data indicate that blast-generated changes are preferentially associated with neurovascular, glymphatic, and DNA repair markers, especially in the brainstem. Moreover, these changes were not accompanied by behavioral changes and corroborate the hypothesis for which an asymptomatic altered status is caused by repeated blast exposures.

Despite the potential of Zn metal batteries (ZMBs) due to their low cost, environmental benefits, and favorable Zn/Zn redox potential, challenges such as low Zn utilization and parasitic reactions hinder their performance. These issues arise from the thermodynamic instability of the Zn anode and high-desolvation energy barriers. To overcome these challenges, this study investigates two zwitterionic compounds with hydrophilic and zincophilic functional groups, BES (N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-aminoethanesulfonic acid) and MES (2-(N-morpholino)ethanesulfonic acid), selecting BES as the optimal electrolyte additive.

Follicular helper T-cell lymphomas (TFHL) of the angioimmunoblastic type (AITL) and other TFHL variants often contain EBV-positive B-blasts, but EBV infection of the neoplastic T-cells has rarely been documented. Here, we report 10 cases of TFHL (9 AITLs and 1 TFHL NOS) associated with EBV infection in neoplastic T cells. The patients (5 males, 5 females), 56-81 years old, presented with polyadenopathy (8/8), B symptoms (7/7), and skin lesions (4/7).

With the rapid development of urban underground spaces, newly constructed tunnels are being constructed increasingly closer to existing ones. In such cases, blasting may cause overbreak and underbreak, potentially compromising both the structural stability of the new tunnels and the operational safety of adjacent tunnels. In this study, we investigated the double-track tunnel project in Chongqing University Town; the blasting operation was classified into the blasting action period (from the beginning to load termination of blasting) and the overbreak period (from blasting termination to surrounding rock deformation stability).

In this study, self-developed intelligent detection equipment was used to quickly detect the key parameters of peripheral eyes and scan the cross-section over-excavation based on the double-track tunnel project at Chongqing University Town. The correlation between the two was clarified using ANSYS/LS-DYNA finite element methods and then, the blasting drilling scheme was optimized. Three-dimensional imaging technology Integrated with high-precision laser scanning and an intelligent positioning system, is employed to acquire precise data regarding the excavation of the cross-section.
