Article Abstract

It is increasingly possible to acquire Electrocardiographic data with featured low-cost devices. The proposed dataset will help map different signals for various diseases related to Electrocardiography data. The dataset presented in this paper is related to the acquisition of electrocardiography data during the standing up and seated positions. The data was collected from 219 individuals (112 men, 106 women, and one other) in different environments, but they are in the Covilhã municipality. The dataset includes the 219 recordings and corresponds to the sensors' recordings of a 30 s sitting and a 30 s standing test, which checks to approximately 1 min for each one. This dataset includes 3.7 h (approximately) of recordings for further analysis with data processing techniques and machine learning methods. It will be helpful for the complementary creation of a robust method for identifying the characteristics of individuals related to Electrocardiography signals.

Background: Primary healthcare centers (PHC) play a pivotal role in the first-line management of patients with diabetes and hypertension, major risk factors for heart failure (HF) development. Point-of-care cardiac ultrasound (POCUS), integrated as an extension of the physical examination, holds significant potential to enhance diagnostic accuracy and clinical management in this setting.

Objectives: Evaluate the impact of POCUS on clinical decision-making in patients with HF and at risk of developing HF in PHC and compare POCUS findings with clinical assessment alone, conventional echocardiography, and electrocardiogram results.

Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) applied to routine electrocardiograms (ECGs) offers promise for screening of structural heart disease (SHD), yet broad clinical integration remains limited by high false positive rates and the lack of tailored deployment strategies.

Methods: We developed TARGET-AI, a multimodal AI-enabled pipeline that integrates longitudinal electronic health record (EHR) data with ECG images to identify optimal intersections of healthcare encounters and patient phenotypes for targeted AI-ECG screening. The approach is built on (1) a foundation model pretrained on 118 million coded EHR events from 159,322 individuals to generate temporal patient embeddings and identify high-risk screening candidates, followed by (2) a contrastive vision-language model trained on 754,533 ECG-echocardiogram pairs to detect SHD with tunable performance characteristics.

Background: Hypertensive crisis (HC) is recognized as a contributing factor in the development of cardiac arrhythmias. This study aims to assess Tp-e interval, Tp-e/QT (TQR), and Tp-e/QTc (TQcR) ratios in patients experiencing hypertensive urgency and emergency, in order to evaluate the potential risk of ventricular arrhythmias.

Methods: A prospective study was conducted involving HC patients admitted to a tertiary hospital's emergency department between June 1, 2022, and June 30, 2024.

Introduction: With the growing demand for privacy-preserving healthcare solutions, the generation of synthetic electrocardiograms (ECGs) offers a valuable alternative to using real patient data.

Methods: In this study, we present the adaptation of the SSSD-ECG diffusion model to generate high-quality synthetic 12-lead ECGs for Sinus Rhythm/Normal and Atrial Fibrillation (AF) conditions using 10-second recordings from the 12-lead MIMIC-IV ECG dataset.

Results: We validate the utility of the generated ECGs through downstream classification tasks, with models trained on synthetic ECG features achieving an F1-score of 0.

Objective: Methadone treatment is effective for managing opioid use disorder (OUD) but raises concerns about its impact on cardiac function. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of cardiac dysfunction among individuals under methadone treatment.

Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 200 OUD patients admitted to addiction treatment centers of Kerman, Iran, who were at least 1 year under methadone maintenance therapy.
