Orbital and eyelid disorders affect normal visual functions and facial appearance, and precise oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeries are crucial. Artificial intelligence (AI) network models exhibit a remarkable ability to analyze large sets of medical images to locate lesions. Currently, AI-based technology can automatically diagnose and grade orbital and eyelid diseases, such as thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO), as well as measure eyelid morphological parameters based on external ocular photographs to assist surgical strategies. The various types of imaging data for orbital and eyelid diseases provide a large amount of training data for network models, which might be the next breakthrough in AI-related research. This paper retrospectively summarizes different imaging data aspects addressed in AI-related research on orbital and eyelid diseases, and discusses the advantages and limitations of this research field.

Objective: In this study, the authors investigated the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characterization for orbital lymphoma.
Methods: The authors collected 57 cases of orbital lymphoma confirmed by surgical pathology, including 38 males and 19 females. All patients underwent conventional MRI transverse T1-weighted imaging (T1WI) and T2-weighted imaging (T2WI), diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), and contrast-enhanced MRI examinations.

This region has a complex anatomical structure with high vascularity and contains vital structures like the orbit and airway. To avoid ophthalmic or neurological abnormalities in addition to the risk of infection and bleeding, accurate clinical and radiological diagnosis and optimal surgical techniques with postoperative management are crucial.

A 91-year-old woman was admitted to our clinic with recurrent squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the right lower eyelid. Excision of the tumor with partial inclusion of the right lower orbital rim resulted in a full-thickness defect in the right lower eyelid. A paramedian forehead flap and titanium mesh plate were used for reconstruction.

Purpose: To characterize the presentation, management, epidemiology, and long-term outcomes of periocular dog bites in 150 pediatric patients at a tertiary referral center, Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Methods: We performed a retrospective chart review from 2011 to 2024 of patients with a diagnosis of "dog bite" or one of 120 eye-related International Classification of Disease (ICD)-10 codes, and an inpatient ophthalmology consult. We collected data on clinical presentation, work-up, management, and outcomes.
