Hydroxyapatite (HA) is a calcium phosphate used in many fields, including biomedical applications. In particular, ion-doped HA nanomaterials (nHA) are developed for their increased bioactivity, particularly in the fields of regenerative medicine and nanomedicine. In this study, we assessed the ecotoxicological impact of five nHA materials: a synthesized calcium hydroxyapatite (CaP-HA), superparamagnetic iron-doped hydroxyapatite (Fe-HA), titanium-doped hydroxyapatite (Ti-HA), alginate/titanium-doped hydroxyapatite hybrid composite (Ti-HA-Alg), and a commercial HA. The soil ecotoxicology model species (Collembola) was used, and besides the standard reproduction test (28 days), an extension to the standard for one more generation was performed (56 days). Assessed endpoints included the standard survival and reproduction, and additionally, growth. Exposure via the standard (28 days) did not cause toxicity, but reproduction increased in commercial HA (significantly at 320 mg HA/kg) whereas via the extension (56 days) it decreased in all tested concentrations. Juveniles' size (56 days) was reduced in all tested nHA materials, except commercial HA. nHA materials seem to trigger a compromise between reproduction and growth. Long-term effects could not be predicted based on the standard shorter exposure; hence, the testing of at least two generations (56 days) is recommended to assess the toxicity of nanomaterials, particularly in . Further, we found that the inclusion of size as additional endpoint is highly relevant.

Objectives: To investigate the physicochemical properties, in vitro efficacy, and in vivo therapeutic potential of novel tree turmeric root and nano-hydroxyapatite (TRE@NHA) composites in mitigating chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN).
Materials And Methods: TRE@NHA composites were synthesized and characterized using FTIR, XRD, TGA, and HRTEM. In vitro studies using PC12 cells assessed cytotoxicity, anti-inflammatory effects, and neuroprotective properties.

MFeO (M = Co and Mn) nanoparticles were synthesized from coconut coir extract using a microwave-assisted co-precipitation method, representing a green and sustainable approach for ferrite nanomaterial preparation. The physical properties of the samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, photoluminescence, Raman spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometry. Scanning electron micrographs revealed nanoscale morphology with evidence of polymorphism.

Objective: This study aimed to develop and characterize biodegradable nanofibrous scaffolds composed of poly(L-co-D,L-lactic acid) (PLDLA), nano-hydroxyapatite (nHA) synthesized from recycled mussel shells, and nanoemulsified chlorhexidine (nCHX) for guided periodontal regeneration (GPR).
Methods: nHA was synthesized from Perna perna mussel shells via wet chemical precipitation and characterized by SEM, FTIR, XRD, Raman, TGA, and zeta potential. Electrospun PLDLA/polycaprolactone (PCL) scaffolds were functionalized with nHA and/or nCHX.

To compare the effect of Nanohydroxy apatite (NHA), Casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP), CPP-ACP with fluoride (CPP-ACPF), versus fluoride gel on remineralization and color improvement of white spot lesions (WSLs) after clinical application followed by home treatment. Thirty-two children from 10 to 14 years with 100 teeth were participated in this study. Affected teeth were randomly allocated into five groups (n = 20); group I: NHA, group II: CPP-ACP, group III: CPP-ACP + F, group: IV: Fluoride gel and group V: no treatment.

Osteoarthritis and metastatic bone cancers create pathological oxidative environments characterized by elevated reactive oxygen species (ROS). ROS impair bone regeneration by degrading the scaffold and suppressing mineralization. To address these challenges, we fabricated thermoresponsive scaffolds based on poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) incorporating in situ-grown nanohydroxyapatite on graphene oxide nanoscrolls (nHA-GONS) using stereolithography (SLA).
