() is a Chinese medicine plant whose bark and leaves are used in the treatment of some diseases such as inflammation, diarrhea and fever. However, metabolic signatures of seeds have not been studied. The seeds and bark of collected at the seed ripening stage were used for metabolite profiling analysis through the untargeted metabolomics approach. A total of 2,578 and 2,207 metabolites, while 503 and 132 unique metabolites were identified in seeds and bark, respectively. Additionally, 574 differential metabolites (DEMs) were detected in the two different organs of , which were grouped into 52 classes. Most kinds of metabolites classed into prenol lipids class. The relative content of flavonoids class was the highest. DEMs contained some bioactive compounds (e.g., flavonoids, terpene glycosides, triterpenoids, sesquiterpenoids) with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer activities. Most kinds of flavonoids and sesquiterpenes were up-regulated in seeds. There were more varieties of terpene glycosides and triterpenoids showing up-regulated in bark. The pathway enrichment was performed, while flavonoid biosynthesis, flavone and flavonol biosynthesis were worthy of attention. This study identified DEMs with pharmaceutical value between seeds and bark during seed maturation and offered a molecular basis for alternative or complementary use of seeds and bark of as a Chinese medicinal material.

Geniposidic acid(GA), a natural iridoid, exists in the roots, stems, leaves, flowers, bark, fruits, and seeds of medicinal plants of Rubiaceae, Eucommiaceae, and Plantaginaceae. Modern pharmacological studies have revealed that GA has multiple pharmacological activities, including organ-protective, anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, anti-osteoporosis, anti-neurodegenerative, and anti-cardiovascular effects. GA can enhance cell/organism defenses by upregulating key anti-inflammatory and antioxidant cytokines, while downregulating key node proteins in pro-inflammatory signaling pathways such as AhR and TLR4/MyD88, thereby exerting pharmacological effects such as organ protection.

Cinnamon and coriander plants are sources of popular spice products in different cuisines prepared by many people worldwide. The inhibitory effect of cinnamon bark and coriander seeds aqueous extracts on butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activities, and their antioxidant properties were investigated using in vitro, molecular docking and molecular dynamics (MD) computational models. Standard experimental methods were employed to determine the plant extracts' antioxidant and enzyme-inhibitory capacities.

The Fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) presents a major challenge to global maize production. This study evaluates the insecticidal potential of Simarouba glauca extracts as an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic pesticides. Bioactive compounds were extracted from different plant parts using various solvents, with seeds yielding the highest recovery in n-hexane, while the bark extracted with ethyl acetate exhibited the lowest median lethal concentration (LC₅₀) of 4.

Skin aging is a natural biological process that can be accelerated by free radical induction, leading to a reduction in skin elasticity and the formation of wrinkles due to the depletion of elastin. (dewandaru) is a promising plant believed to possess anti-aging properties, primarily attributed to its major constituents, myricitrin and quercetin. This study aimed to investigate the anti-elastase and antioxidant properties of stem bark, ripe fruit, and seed extracts.
