Article Abstract

Tumorigenicity of residual undifferentiated induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) is a major concern. The purpose of this study was to investigate the optimal conditions for removal of iPSCs using R-17F antibody, which recognizes specific glycosphingolipids glycans on undifferentiated iPSCs and exhibits selective cytotoxicity to iPSCs. After adding of R-17F and secondary antibody to co-cultured iPSCs and chondrocytes, residual iPSCs were quantitatively evaluated by iPS specific glycome analysis. Undifferentiated iPSCs were sufficiently removed using R-17F in combination with an equal amount of a secondary antibody. Furthermore, teratomas were not observed upon transplantation of co-cultured cells pretreated under the same conditions into testes of immunodeficient mice. This removal method incorporating R-17F may be useful for regenerative medicine using iPSCs.

The degradation of colorless tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH), a widely used antibiotic, is a significant environmental concern due to its persistence in aquatic systems. The zinc sulfide (ZnS) nanoparticle fabricated melamine-formaldehyde polymer (MFP)-based nanocomposite (ZnS-MFP) was prepared via a hydrothermal polymerization method, followed by surface modification through a simple precipitation route. The degradation of TCH through photocatalysis adheres to pseudo-first-order kinetics with a significantly faster rate under natural sunlight than under artificial bulb light.

Disinfectant wipes are widely used to reduce microbial contamination on surfaces, yet there is limited information on how viruses are physically removed or chemically inactivated during wiping. This study aimed to address this gap by comparing the contributions of physical removal and chemical inactivation to overall disinfection efficacy. Glass and vinyl coupons were contaminated with SARS-CoV-2 surrogates, bovine coronavirus (BCoV), or human coronavirus OC43, at an initial titer of 5-6 log TCID/surface with 5% soil load.
