Article Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of ozone therapy on new bone formation and inflammation modulation in defects of rat calvaria filled with autogenous bone.

Material And Methods: Critical size defects were created in the calvaria of 24 male Wistar rats. The animals were randomly divided into four groups according to the treatment: G1: clot; G2: clot and covered with xenogenic membrane; G3: particulate autogenous bone graft; G4: autogenous bone graft and application of 3 mL O/O gas mixture (10 µg/ml). The defects were filled immediately after surgery with a bilateral retroauricular application, in the region immediately above the incision. After 21 days, the animals were euthanized, and the samples were processed for morphometric evaluations designed to measure both the intensity of the inflammatory infiltrate, and the presence of new bone formation in the defect.

Results: The results showed a lower inflammation score and higher mean of newly formed bone in the region of the defect for the group associated with ozone therapy (G4). The bone formed in the region of the defect could be observed as being more lamellar and mineralized in the case of associated ozone therapy.

Conclusion: Ozone therapy represents a promising adjuvant therapy to accelerate tissue regeneration.

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis, one manifestation of which involves pathological processes in various ocular structures. The most severe form is rosacea-associated keratitis. Given the multifactorial etiology and pathogenesis, this condition remains unpredictable and resistant to treatment.

Objectives: Due to ozonated water's antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, it may be used as a supplementary treatment to scaling and root planing (SRP). The present study aimed to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of using ozonated water instead of tap water during the SRP for people with chronic generalized periodontitis.

Material And Methods: This randomized clinical trial was conducted on 30 patients with generalized periodontitis Stages I and II, randomly allocated to two groups.

Respiratory diseases pose a significant global health burden, prompting the exploration of novel therapeutic strategies. This narrative review consolidates existing knowledge and critically examines the evolving role of medical gases, ozone, argon, and nitric oxide (NO), in respiratory medicine. Based on recent literature, it highlights how these gases, originally used for their physicochemical properties, have now undergone a "functional crossover," revealing their broad therapeutic potential.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation combined with ozone injection versus the same dual therapy with additional collagenase for cervical disc herniation (CDH).

Methods: A prospective RCT enrolled 90 eligible CDH patients (30-80 years, single-level protrusion ≤ 1/3 spinal canal) at a tertiary hospital, randomizing them to a study group (n = 45, triple therapy) or control group (n = 45, low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation + ozone). Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) scores were compared preoperatively and at 1 week, 1, 3, and 6 months postoperatively, with efficacy assessed via Modified MacNab Criteria.
