Article Abstract

Roxarsone (ROX) as an organoarsenic feed additive has been widely used in livestock breeding and poultry industry, but ROX can degrade into highly toxic inorganic arsenic species in natural environments to threaten to the environment and human health. Therefore, there is a considerable interest in developing convenient, selective and sensitive methods for the detection of ROX in livestock breeding and poultry industry. In this work, a fluorescent molecularly imprinted polymer (MIPs) probe based on amino-modified Mn-ZnS quantum dots (QDs) has been developed by sol-gel polymerization for specific recognition of ROX. The synthesized MIPs-coated Mn-ZnS QDs (MIPs@Mn-ZnS QDs) have highly selective recognition sites to ROX because there are multi-interactions among the template ROX, functional monomer phenyltrimethoxysilane and the amino-functionalized QDs such as the π-π conjugating effect, hydrogen bonds. Under the optimal conditions, an obvious fluorescence quenching was observed when ROX was added to the solution, and the quenching mechanism could be explained as the photo-induced electron transfer. The MIPs@Mn-ZnS QDs sensor exhibited sensitive response to ROX in the linear range from 3.75 × 10 M to 6.25 × 10 M (R = 0.9985) and the limit of detection down to 4.34 nM. Moreover, the fluorescence probe has been applied to the quantitative detection of ROX in feed samples, and the recovery was in the range of 91.9% to 108.0%. The work demonstrated that the prepared MIPs@Mn-ZnS QDs probe has a good potential for rapid and sensitive determination of ROX in complicated samples.

Achieving UVA/B-selective, skin-inspired nociceptors with perception and blockade functions at the single-unit device level remains challenging. This is because the device necessitates distinct components for every performance metric, thereby leading to complex preparation processes and restricted performance, as well as the absence of deep UV (UVB and below)-selective semiconductors. Here, to address this, we develop a structure-simplification skin-inspired nociceptor using a reverse type-II CuAgSbI/MoS heterostructure.

Quantum dots (QDs) converted to micro light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have emerged as a promising technology for next-generation display devices. However, their commercial application has been hindered by the susceptibility of QDs to photodegradation when directly exposed to an open environment. Here, we develop functional ligand zinc bis[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl] phosphate (Zn(BMEP)) to passivate QD surface anions through a phosphine-mediated surface reaction.

Semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) are well known to give rise to a quantum confined structure of excitons. Because of this quantum confinement, new physics of hot exciton relaxation dynamics arises. Decades of work using transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy have yielded initial simple observations, such as estimates of the cooling rate from single pump photon energy experiments.

Treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) has been a great challenge before medical fraternity since last century owing to a median survival of less than 15 months, despite of intensive therapy. Neurosurgeries, intense chemotherapy, advanced radiotherapy, and targeted therapies have bought some extension to the life of GBM patients. Combination and targeted therapies could bring a concrete approach to tackle the complexities of GBM treatment.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most prevalent form of thyroid cancer with a high incidence among endocrine malignancies. It tends to metastasize early in lymph nodes and differs markedly from other subtypes in biological behavior, clinical management, and prognosis. Therefore, accurately distinguishing PTC from other pathological subtypes is crucial for guiding diagnosis and treatment decisions.
