Article Abstract

Smartphones and wearables are widely recognised as the foundation for novel Digital Health Technologies (DHTs) for the clinical assessment of Parkinson's disease. Yet, only limited progress has been made towards their regulatory acceptability as effective drug development tools. A key barrier in achieving this goal relates to the influence of a wide range of sources of variability (SoVs) introduced by measurement processes incorporating DHTs, on their ability to detect relevant changes to PD. This paper introduces a conceptual framework to assist clinical research teams investigating a specific Concept of Interest within a particular Context of Use, to identify, characterise, and when possible, mitigate the influence of SoVs. We illustrate how this conceptual framework can be applied in practice through specific examples, including two data-driven case studies.

Introduction: Electronic health records can be used to create high-quality databases if data are structured and well-registered, which is the case for most perioperative data in the Capital and Zealand Regions of Denmark. We present the purpose and development of the AI and Automation in Anaesthesia (TRIPLE-A) database-a platform designed for epidemiology, prediction, quality control, and automated research data collection.

The natural tracers δO and δH are essential for tracing hydrological processes by identifying water sources, tracking evaporation loss and floodwater dynamics to enhance water management and flood mitigation strategies. This study employed this approach in the ephemeral, endorheic Cuvelai-Etosha Basin (CEB), spanning northern Namibia and southern Angola, to determine its viability in capturing spatial and temporal hydrological patterns, their timing and interactions during a medium flood condition (2017), and contrasted with a drought year (2014). During the 2017 wet season 219 grab surface water samples were collected from ephemeral waterbodies in four sampling campaigns (February, March, April and May) in addition to a single campaign in May 2014 (63 samples).
