Article Abstract

Exploring the impacts of perceived neighborhood environment on commuting behavior and travel-related CO emissions helps policymakers formulate regional low-carbon transport policies. Most studies have examined the impact of the objective measures of built environment on travel behavior and related CO emissions, and few studies have focused on perceived neighborhood environment. This study develops a structural equation model and uses data from a self-administered survey of urban full-time employees in Nanjing, China to examine the direct and indirect effects of perceived neighborhood environment on commuting mode choice and commuting CO emissions. The study shows that perceived service facilities has a significant direct effect on commuting mode and a significant indirect effect on commuting CO through the mediating effect of commuting mode choice. While socio-demographic variables such as gender have a significant direct impact on commuting mode and commuting CO emissions, they have an indirect impact on commuting mode and commuting CO emissions through the intermediate variables (such as car ownership, perceived neighborhood environment and commuting distance). The conclusions of this study show that the potential of commuting CO emissions reduction in China is enormous, and that policy interventions on commuting would help developing countries such as China achieve the goals of low-carbon transport and sustainable development.

The pioneering zoned desertification control mode of desert-crossing highway grids in Ongniud Banner has received widespread societal acclaim. However, the principle, technology, and benefits of this mode have not been systematically summarized, which affects its cognition and promotion in the field of desertification control. We synthesized multi-source data from field investigations, interview and literature to elucidate design principle of the zoned desertification control mode of desert-crossing highway grids, configuration characteristics of "three belts" (dune-fixing and forestation belt, enclosure conservation belt, and aerial seeding belt), vegetation and soil restoration processes, and influences on production and living.

Research on the spatial pattern of PM pollution has achieved progress recently, but there are still shortcomings in the effects of macro socioeconomic factors and regional connectivity of PM emissions. To address these issues, our study followed an analytical framework integrating empirical orthogonal function, Morlet wavelet analysis, time series decomposition, back propagation neural network, geographical detector and social network analysis. This framework was applied to a dataset embodying PM, meteorology and socioeconomics over seven years (2015-2021) across 279 cities of mainland China.

Due to the slender geometry and low-amplitude vibrations of stayed cables, existing vision-based methods often fail to accurately identify their full-field dynamic parameters, especially the higher-order modes. This paper proposes a novel holographic vision-based method to accurately identify the high-order full-field dynamic parameters and estimate the tension of the stayed cables. Particularly, a full-field optical flow tracking algorithm is proposed to obtain the full-field dynamic displacement information of the stayed cable by tracking the changes in the optical flow field of the continuous motion signal spectral components of holographic feature points.

The ATP-binding cassette (ABC) gene family represents one of the most extensive and evolutionarily conserved groups of proteins, characterized by ATP-dependent transporters that mediate the movement of substrates across cellular membranes. Despite their well-documented functions in various biological processes, the specific contributions of ABC transporters in eggplant ( L.) remain unexplored.

Background: Sepsis remains a leading cause of death among hospitalized and critically ill patients in Nigeria. Despite progress in antimicrobial therapy access and emergency resuscitative care, it continues to account for a significant proportion of death and disability in low and middle-income countries and represents a significant burden of disease. This study aimed to define the factors impacting patient care-seeking and clinician emergency care practices for septic patients at a private hospital in Lagos, Nigeria.
