Background: and purpose: The formation of postoperative intra-abdominal adhesion band formation may lead to severe complications. This study aimed to evaluate the preventive effect of local administration of frankincense n-hexane extract (FHE) on the formation of postsurgical adhesion bands.
Materials And Methods: FHE was extracted from the resin of a tree and its components were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). In an animal model, the expression levels of TNF-α and TGF-β1 cytokines after application of FHE were assessed to check the inflammatory and fibrotic cues, respectively.
Results: Following FHE compound analysis, experiments demonstrated that intraoperative local administration of FHE resulted in the prevention of adhesion band formation. The adhesion grades in the FHE-treated group were significantly lower than those in the negative control (NC) and the positive control (Interceed). The infiltration of inflammatory cells observed by histopathology revealed a significant anti-inflammatory potential of FHE. Furthermore, the gene expression results proved that significant suppression of TNF-α and TGF-β1 was responsible for its antiadhesion properties.
Conclusions: The study reported the potential of FHE as an ointment for the prevention of adhesion bands.

Background: Food labelling policy has become increasingly important in public health due to the rising burden of diet-related diseases. This study examines the compliance of pre-packaged foods sold in Nigerian markets with national food labelling guidelines.
Methods: A total of 883 pre-packaged foods from broad categories were purposively enlisted from selected Nigerian stores and supermarkets.

Chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T)-cell therapy is a promising resolution for solid tumors, but its corresponding clinical translation has been hindered by unsatisfactory therapeutic potency and severe cytokine release syndrome. Herein, tetracycline (Tet)-On inducible human epidermal growth factor receptor 1 (HER1)-targeted CAR-T (Tet-HER1-CAR-T) cells were engineered to enable spatially selective activation at tumor sites by doxycycline (Doxy), which is delivered by pH-responsive stealth liposomal calcium carbonate nanoparticles (Doxy@CaCO-PEG). Compared with the intravenous administration of conventional HER1-CAR-T cells and Tet-HER1-CAR-T cells activated by free Doxy, concurrent intravenous administration of Tet-HER1-CAR-T cells and Doxy@CaCO-PEG leads to the localized tumor activation of Tet-HER1-CAR-T cells and reduced systemic secretion of inflammatory cytokines.

This study utilizes data from the China Cancer Registry Annual Report and the "Qichacha" database to construct a time-region regression model based on panel data, aiming to explore the impact of polluting enterprises on regional cancer incidence rates between 2000 and 2008. The empirical analysis reveals that polluting enterprises significantly increase cancer incidence rates among both male and female populations, with a particularly marked effect on lung cancer. Heterogeneity analysis shows that the effect is most pronounced in the eastern and coastal regions, followed by the central and northeastern areas, with minimal impact in the western and inland regions.

Introduction: The prognosis of anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) remains poor. Mutation-based targeted therapies and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) have gained increasing importance in the treatment of advanced tumor stages. This study aimed to investigate whether mutation-based neoadjuvant therapy can convert an initially unresectable tumor into a resectable state, optimizing local tumor control and prolonging overall survival.

Background: Older adults in rural China bear a significant proportion of their healthcare expenses through out-of-pocket payments, resulting in a considerable financial burden on their families.
Objective: This study aimed to explore the key factors influencing adult children's involvement in financing healthcare expenses for their elderly parents in rural China.
Methods: Data were collected by in-depth interviews using a semi-structured interview guide approved by all researchers.
